Both the restaurant deco and waiters are full of character. We had two excellent dinners with very fresh seafood and fish and very tasty starters. Very warm and welcoming towards children. Excellent wine. Classic ambience!

The receptionist at our hotel had recommended this restaurant to us and we were not disappointed. After walking our legs off all morning we entered a sea of tranquility and old worldly charm. We had a superb lunch - chose a few of "today's specials" and loved everything that was put in front of us - all dishes were well... More

Found the waiting staff extremely patronising to the point of insulting. Was ticked off when we served our own wine after waiting with empty glasses for a refill by our apparently disinterested waiter...almost like Faulty Towers in service quality as he slopped the wine, some of which went over the food! We were told beforehand it was the best restaurant... More

We arrived early and had an enjoyable evening standing at the bar and having a wide range of tapas. The barman was very good at suggesting things we might enjoy and he was a good ambassador for the restaurant. The tapas were without fail tasty and interesting and reasonably priced. We also looked round the restaurant area, which had a... More

Everybody raves about this restaurant (its reputation seems to precede it), and while it serves good food & offers good service, it is overpriced and overrated. It was an enjoyable experience with friends but definitely not the best meal I've ever had. If you like an over the top stuffy starched white napkins kinda place, this is for you. If... More

A great evening with some great people. Restaurant, over priced and over rated. Food pretty average. I would like to say the service was very good.

This is a very traditional Spanish restaurant, doing what they do very well. Try the Salmorejo and the Arroz Negro and you won't be disappointed. It's an institution. When you are in Cadiz don't miss it.

Our travel guide book mentioned this restaurant to try before leaving Cadiz and a recent Rick Stein programme we saw on BBC showed him eating fish in Cadiz, not at El Faro I don't think, but somewhere very close by. So we were on a day trip away from our base in Seville and thought we would give it a... More

I was after a long walk and have been recommended this place by a lovely local lady I humbled across on the streets nearby. I came in just as they were opening the restaurant for lunch time. I ordered 3 tiny sized tapas dishes: Tortilla de Camarones Unidad, Patatas con Melva and the Humus de Berenjenas Pulpo with a Sangria.... More

Description
El Faro de Cadiz is located in the traditional neighborhood of "La Viña", where Gonzalo Cordoba started with a small bar decorated as a sailor tavern, with nets and fishing stuff, with few wooden benches and tables. The customers came in search of the famous fried fish, called "pescaito frito" daily carried by fishermen of "caleta" beach. His daily concern and desire to excel led him to transform the local expanding and providing modern facilities. Now retired, his spirit of service and commitment to others is part of our principle to keep shining gastronomically Cadiz and we are proud to continue this work. El Faro Cadiz is still committed to the tradition to move forward and offer the best of our sea and our land to our clients.
