Malaga is not an easy city for the vegetarian, most tapas places and restaurants have very few veggie options. However there are a handful of vegetarian restaurants and El Calafate is the best one that we've tried. It's tucked away down an alley but persevere with finding the place as it's great. The food was excellent and ridiculously good value,... More

It's been difficult to find quality vegetarian food in Spain so I was very pleased to come across El Calafate. We came in around 17.00 which is way after lunch but the kitchen seems to be open all day. They have a reasonably priced menu of the day (9,70€ without drinks) that has a variety if choices, some vegan. I... More

We were having a few days in Malaga Centro after the stress of Christmas. The weather was good and one lunch time we decided to go back to an old favourite where we had enjoyed quite a few lunches over the years. The restaurant is fairly small and compact. The menu is vegetarian, and small but adequate. Three courses with... More

My meal was mediocre...Large plates of pretty bland food followed by a good desert. But cheap, with cheerful, charming staff, and the couples at the tables around me were both returning for a second time because they really liked the food and were busily exclaiming how delicious their meals were. Maybe I just chose badly ...

We found this place by chance and what a treat!! The food is really lovely and reasonably priced. Good sized servings - the goats cheese tower was huge and we couldn't finish it actually.. The coffee is good. Gluten free is not a problem. It's not a 'posh' place, but it is clean and comfy. And our waitress was a... More

A hopeful start to our meal as we sat down in the modern relaxed surroundings of the restaurant and looked over the 12 euro menu of the day and gave our orders. Our starters were fine really - a standard salad with a spoonful of baba ghanoush on it and a reasonable but uneventful vegetable soup. However what we hadn't... More

Evening three course set menu was €9.70. We ate ajoblanco (fantastic) and porro (a version of gazpacho), followed by cheese pasta and mushrooms with egg, and finished with tiramisu and lemon tart. Excellent food and excellent value. The restaurant is licensed to sell alcohol. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The restaurant was busy and it is advisable to book.

Not since I was an apprentice Chef 53 years ago and dined on 3 continents, have I experienced such dire commodities labeled food. Wife and I sat at a table for 4 and was ordered off as it was reserved and shown a table for 2. The restaurant has about 40 covers. There were no reserved signs on any table at... More

I have visited El Calafate a few times, with both meat eaters and fellow vegetarians and every time I go I am always reminded of how amazing the food is. All the times I have gone I have ordered the menu and end up leaving super full and content. They always have a good variety of options and different types... More
