Walked past Negro Carbon on New Year’s Eve and the place was absolutely heaving. There was no way we’d get in that night and an attempt to book it for the next night was fruitless as well. But did score a spot for the 2nd of January and were so glad we did.
The place is tiny, so reservations are a must. Dinnertime doesn't really start in Spain until at least 8pm. Our reservation was for 8.30pm and it was already very busy when we arrived. This was just the first seating because it got absolutely packed again after 10pm and by the time we left close to 11pm, it was heaving again!
The place gets very smoky, so be prepared for your clothes to smell of roast meat thereafter.
The service was friendly, even towards non-Spanish speakers. The wait staff were very clear on how the menu worked and their explanations and suggestions were very welcome. They also offered to re-fire your meat if you feel your meat gets cold.
We had a Finnish Cow (aged 50+ weeks) a beautiful platter of grilled veg and the most wonderful, buttery roast potato (maybe some of the best I’ve ever had), at a price that was reasonable.
Impressive and highly recommended!

We arrived late in Granada but were given a warm welcome. Interesting little restaurant specialising in need/steak. We share a ribeye with a plate of roast vegetables and a buttery baked potato. Tow glasses of red wine. Bliss.

We wanted a restaurant within walking distance of hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The location is great, the restaurant itself was clean and welcoming, as were the staff. The different options for steak were explained to us clearly, in English, and we were advised on accompaniments. The steak was very good, although my husband and I have decided we prefer an Argentian ribeye (which is an awful lot cheaper!). We ordered too many side dishes and had to leave a lot of food, which was very disappointing as the meal, although special, was expensive, but an experience.

This is a very expensive restaurant, and very gimmicky. They had run out of mustard, very upsetting. The steak was weighed on scales, incorrectly, and on our actual table which was a bit off putting.
He thoroughly Recomended the roast potatoes which was in fact a supersized baked potato. Quite regular in taste. Nothing spectacular.
All this said, the food is cooked wonderfully and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We had a free slice of cake which was made by Granada’s infamous grandmother - that was definitely the highlight. As was the roasted veg; however quite expensive for some veg. The food is far too expensive, but we had a thoroughly enjoyable night despite the gimmicks. (Ps. Order the wedges not the baked potato).

The restaurant is very well located in the heart of Albaycin, the atmosphere is quite correct and we found the service to be very good, they explained all types of meats in detail, so that you make the best choice in what to order. We did not choose the most expensive meat but it was excellent. It's better to make a reservation for booking a table.

This is a very special cost restaurant. Javier and his team are outstanding along with the food. We ate there for new years eve and again the next night. You are made to feel welcome and attention to detail is amazing. Food is of a quality that you dont often get. Every mouthful fills your full taste buds and leaves you wanting more. The price is very affordable and will definitely be going back again.

Fantastic steaks beautifully cooked. The potato was out standing. The service improved dramatically the longer we were there!
You must book if you want to go in the evening. One day we will go back and try the wage beef, but at 39€ for a 100 grams I need to save up.

Big steaks, fancy oven, delicious aged beef, tasted things I've never tasted before in a steak. Nice decor and service as well. Highly recommend if you're craving steak in Granada.

As a resident of the southern US, I couldn't have been more suprised to find Fried Green Tomatoes on the menu at Negro Carbon in Granada, Spain. When the dish arrived at the table, I couldn't have been more surprised -- the tomato wedges were encased in blackened, charred meringue-like batter. The surprise continued when upon biting into the crispy, black coating, the same delicious flavor of batter, seasoning, and tomato I'm accustomed to was revealed. A delightful tapas dish to share before indulging in a perfectly grilled tenderloin. Delicious food from start to finish, in a lovely setting under the shadow of the Alhambra.

3 weeks ago we ate steak with 2 people at this restaurant. Firstly we found the service of the waiters terrible, 1 of the waiters didn’t want to communicate with English speaking people and the other was simply blunt. Than the steak; our steak was overbaked and totally wasn’t worth the money. We highly regret going here.

Antes que nada queremos agradecerte por haber dedicado tiempo a compartir tu opinión con nosotros y con toda la comunidad. Conocer qué piensan nuestros clientes es vital para nosotros y es, también, la única forma de crecer cumpliendo expectativas. Nos hemos quedado muy sorprendidos con su insinuación de que nuestros camareros no quisieran comunicarse con la persona de habla inglesa, ya que un número elevado de nuestros clientes es extranjero y todo nuestro Personal de Sala habla perfectamente inglés.
En Negro Carbón nos gusta cuidar los detalles, cada materia prima, una elaboración minuciosa, cada presentación y sabemos que ciertos aspectos puedan corresponder más a gustos personales que a nuestra propuesta gastronómica. También entendemos que no siempre acertamos, pero siempre intentamos dar lo mejor en cada momento y en cada plato. Ojalá hayamos conseguido que conozcas más sobre nuestra casa. Nos encantaría volver a tenerte por aquí ;)

Overall a great dining experience. We were seated quickly and our server walked us through the menu in English - minor challenges understanding, but manageable. We chose from the "Large Steak" section, which was a series of cuts that was big enough (800+ grams) for 4 people. We selected the Finnish steak and had it done medium rare and we were very satisfied with the simple seasoning and the cooking. The different seasoning salt on the side was also a nice touch.
We also ordered the pork belly with mussels and artichokes for appetisers. Pork belly did not disappoint at all. The flavour was exquisite and the meat was just perfect. The artichokes were OK, but not something I would go back for.
For sides, we ordered the Grilled Vegetables and Grilled Potatoes. The Grilled Veg was perfect. Great varieties of, perfect seasoning and cooked to perfection. The peppers were perfectly done and the onions were to die for.

Just at the feet from the old city,à small restaurant for +/- 35 pers.
You have the choice over several Meat coming from Spain or other well known land.With the spicy (not hot but with herbs and olive oil). So juicy !!

I don’t write many reviews and those I write tend to be negative. I felt the need to post about Negra Carbon as I live in steak country and am particular and this was the best steak I have had in Europe by a mile and its not even close. Its actually one of the better steaks I have ever had. Same for the baked potato and artichoke appetizer which my family of four all split. You can’t go wrong eating here.

The atmosphere was very nice, warm and cozy. The staff are super helpful at explaining the menu and the steak cuts, etc.
So no need to worry.
To start, the bread was in a warm bag when it arrived, it was very crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside so overall wonderful quality bread. However, some people might find annoying is that there was no plate to eat the bread.
The ribeye was mediocre. It was a bit tasteless but at the same time had a huge amount of fat. The fat wasn’t rendered enough, I don’t recommend.
It was the opinion of the party that the grilled vegetables was the star dish.

Been there with my friends for 2nd time this year. High quality food, always on the spot. Steak is a must in this place same as home made cake for dessert. Service is really good and those guy will make you laugh and make sure you have all you need.
Place is really small so it's better if you call and book yourself a table.
