Fantastic dinner. Great food and service. This is an evening out, an experience to be savoured, much more than just food. Excellent service from the moment you step in, meeting staff and explanations of how the kitchen and chefs work. Real attention to detail, and they reacted and dealt with an unexpected vegetarian really well! The hotel booking somehow meant... More

We had the nine course menu - the food was good but not memorable; which you would expect for this price. It started well with canapés in the kitchen area, while one of the chefs explained their philosophy; these were delicious. The dining room is very austere- is it so that you focus on the food? The service was hurried... More

Jeffrey Koons’ Puppy covered in flowers greets visitors at the entrance to the Guggenheim but the restaurant is accessed from a minimal entrance off the promenade behind the building. Nerua doesn't open until 1pm and is only open for lunch. Basel and cucumber water is offered as a refreshment upon arrival and guests are invited to view the kitchen. Lunch... More

We went for the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Great service from start to end; never pretentious, just super attentive and lots of great information on each course and each wine.

A lovely meal, one star is a fair assessment. Some great dishes, a few misses but the starters were exemplary. Loved the sirloin steak and strawberry dessert course. A beautiful spot with a dreamy soundtrack and welcoming service.

It helps to have an experienced palate to savour this outing. Nothing detracts from the food and wine fine dining occasion. Personal wait-service at each table, and surroundings that put your focus roundly on what you are about to savour. Extremely knowledgeable staff who are on hand to answer anything you might ask about the menu. A unique experience, Guly... More

The setting is very simple within the Guggenheim (at the rear). You see the open plan kitchen when you arrive which looks very smart. Simple white table cloths on round tables that aren't too close together give a slightly austere feel. The staff are professional but seem a little stiff - they fit the ambience but it doesn't feel overly... More

For Londoners - we're very much in the Simon Rogan/The Dairy realm of Michelin here. Somewhat hilarious entry - whole kitchen staff shouts welcome to you & you're taken to try some tiny nibbles (in our case a green broth, fried fish skin & tuna bits) by the kitchen. What follows on a lengthy tasting menu varies in success -... More

This is not really my sort of place. The staff are charming and helpful but the austere dining room, no colour, no decoration, feels more like an empty gallery than a restaurant. We had the 9 course tasting menu. 3 wonderful, 5 interesting and 1 which I thought was close to being inedible although this comment is more about me... More

Description
Nerua takes its name from the Nervión River, the backbone of Bilbao, which in ancient Latin was called Nerva. We combine innovation with our roots, our surroundings. It is a space designed for a gastronomic and cultural experience. Nature sets the pace of our kitchen, we adapt to each season without censorship to do the cuisine that we feel. A local cuisine that begins at the vegetable gardens, in the sea, and in the farms. Our experience is the best technique-we cook with freedom to create pleasure and enjoyment. Faithful to our principles, we defend our environment and the producers who make our goal possible: to be at the cutting edge and to innovate without losing the flavor of our roots. "Muina"-Basque for core, heart, or essence-is the soul of our kitchen.
