Honestly , considering the fame , we would have expected a more curated food. A satisfactory dishes list with some interesting appetizers but , end of story , the place is a steak kingdom with french fries and good wine. Friendly staff but prices little bit high for food quality.

We'd devoured so many pintxos while in Bilbao, we fancied some properly hearty food. And we found it in Casa Rufo. We happened upon the delicatessen/butcher by day and restaurant by night and shared just over a kilo of chuleton which was cooked to perfection. So succulent and fresh. You're seated in what appears to be a wine cellar, the... More

We read online that this is the place to go for foodies and it was. We went for lunch and had a great meal. We went for a selection of starters rather than a plate of meat but worth it and highly suggested.

Steak comes out on a hot plate so you can cook to your liking, the flavour is amazing! It's a lovely setting for a meal too.

I was taken here by local guys for a taste of real Basque cooking. The food was excellent and a nice ambience. They order the TBone steak which was cooked over coals in the back. Truly fantastic.

You will have read that Casa Rufu is a food shop during the day and a restaurant at night. The rooms at the back, which look quite domestic, transform into small dining areas. The menu is simple. We started with a shared plate of home smoked salmon served, unusually, in a thick slice cut into cubes - delicious. However the... More

Had a wonderful meal here. The aged steak was amazing...had notes of eating blue cheese and mushrooms. The braised oxtail was also amazing...one of the best I've ever had. The kitchen also accommodating and was able to cook an off menu item (tortilla) for our 1 year old.

Very special restaurant, located in the back of a store. It feels like you are dining in someones home. The txuleta was a dream ,good vine. The service is typical basque . A nice experience, Will be back.

What a fabulous meal again. Great restaurant. Food is delicious and the wine list extensive. The restaurant is incorporated into a delicatessen shop. Great atmosphere and very attentive staff. Slightly top end on price but well worth it.

We had the typical meat plates like most of the people in this restaurant. Good quality and nice chips.. Well priced wines, but average deserts.an overall pleasant experience..
