The interior is very "classic", it could use an update. Staff very friendly, professional and not too stiff. We took the degustation menu, the viaje largo. That's 11 courses (some very small of course). At first the courses came very quickly one after an other,...More

There are different options. Full menu of 10 dishes. Smaller menu of 5 dishes 2ith choice of fish or meat or eat from the dishes. We went from the full menu and that is a full Michelin star worthy. No complaints. One dish which was...More

Last time we visited was around 18 years ago. We decided to celebrate my partner's birthday and booked the degustación menu which was sensational. Portions were very sensibly sized and everything worked to perfection. Service was impeccable. The wine list is extremely good and they...More

Service is attentive, the rooms are pleasantly spacious...but the cuisine leaves quite a lot to be desired. Ok, it's a 3.5/5, but definitely no star. I can only assume the inspector has not been around for a while. You will do better in many "simpler"...More

Zortziko is an elegant restaurant, if I am not mistaken with a Michelin star. I was only there once, didn't really like it that much because obviously the famous chef was not present. That is not the issue though. Squid... More

Zortziko restaurant, just a few steps from Bilbao's iconic Guggenheim Museum, is iconic in its own way. This ultra-modern kitchen is sited in an elegant, 19th century mansion and is the place for business lunches and relaxed dinners. The formality of the setting the three dining rooms are decorated in royal French, Victorian English and a more modern style is deflated by the helpfulness and cordiality of the DJed waitstaff. Chef/owner Daniel Garcia has earned his Michelin star through refinement of flavours in a truly Basque style at once inventive and conservative. Dishes change with the season, of course, and may include dishes like starter of txangurro salad, containing crabmeat on thin spaghetti with coral dressing, main course of blue duck slow-cooked served with a sweet rioja sauce, and a tasting plate of desserts to satisfy even the most adventurous gourmet. A single table in the wine cellar, the home of more than 600 labels, is reserved weeks in advance. Celebrity-magnet Zortziko (Frank Gehry, Pierce Brosnan) is one of Bilbao's culinary star attractions.
