Good honest food, very tasty. We got in early so no problem but later on was a different story. The place was full, everybody appeared to be waiting for food. Think mario is a victim of his own success. He tries very hard but should learn when to say "sorry we're full."

Good place to have a gomera style meal. The owner's funny character made our evening really relaxed. For sure will be back one day.

The food is local food and genuine. Rabbit, prawns and garlic, cuttlefish are all excellent specialities. Food is served with gusto and good humour as Mario is the best of hosts.

October 2016 was my first visit here since March 2014. This time I ate there on two consecutive evenings. There are just over thirty covers but on both evenings only four people dining - myself and the same couple with a child. This contrasted with my experience two years ago when the place was very lively. The food is good... More

We were made to feel very welcome and the food was good. The only downside was that 2 of the 3 dishes we wanted were not available and we were offered more expensive alternatives. We weren't sure if this was a ploy but the food was good if a little expensive for La Gomera. We will return and see wha... More

We had a fantastic evening at El Nilo - we ordered fresh fish and a steak with a bottle of Rioja wine - I can't remember when I last had such good fish (called "lubina" in Spanish)! The waiter did not speak much English but with such personality he could get away with it

The previous reviewer who described this place as having Faulty Towers style service was spot on. When we arrived it was nearly full so we did not expect quick service but it turned out to be some of the worst service we have experienced. Starters (overly salty watercress soup) took well over an hour and the main courses just under... More

After a long day travelling from the UK this was our first proper food stop. The staff were enthusiastic and clearly enjoying their work - at 9pm on a Sunday night! We had an excellent mixed salad and two fish dishes, tuna and gilt head bream (dorada). All were very nice, not fancy, but good, honest cooking. We had one... More

Maybe a bad evening for the restaurant? We came in only for coffee and dessert. The coffee was cold and just tasted bad. We took one sip each and sent it out. They even tried to make us pay for this "coffee". The dessert was one big mess of sugar. Just outside the restaurant the chef went for a smoke... More
