I was recommended to try here by my nearby Abba hotel for mid afternoon tapas. I had one ensalada mista followed by anchovies which amounted to 6 salty brown anchovies accompanied by a glass of white wine. It was pleasant enough but 34 euros for this was expensive by normal Spanish standards and comparative prices in Santander. Better to choose... More

We went to El Machi since it was just around the corner from the Hotel Bahia where we were staying. The meal was disappointing. Fried calamari was pretty good, but a dish of roasted peppers had too much charred thick skin on the peppers. Zarzuela, a mixed seafood dish had only clams and some kind of flavorless white fish in... More

Booked for 8.30 and we were first in upstairs cosy dining area. By 9.00 is was reasonably busy though but I would assume in summer booking would be essential. Excellent service and we shared Gambas a la Plancha for starters and similarly the Main Course of Grilled Sole which came with a small selection of vegetables.. Chef helped with deboning... More

El Machi has a great, fresh selection of sea food and a great atmosphere too. Although it was more money than we wished to spend, the quality of food is high and the restaurant has both a great location by the water and adorable nautical decor.

On the seafront we found this fish restaurant purely by chance. We were early but allowed into the restaurant which has about a dozen tables beautifully laid out.The sea bass and vegetables were delicious as was a local wine, staff were friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

Very friendly staff that accommodated my husband, 2 young kids and myself in the shade. The staff were astonished that between us we polished off arroz negro, paella, cuttlefish stew and monkfish bites. Our kids love sea food! This is a a high quality eatery with a great atmosphere. You do pay for it but well worth it.

We had a light lunch on a hot summer day. We wanted to have lunch in their restaurant and waited there for more than 10 minutes, but nobody came to ask for order, so we gave up, and then tried the bar area. The service was much quicker and we had a wonderful dish of mejillones marinera which were rich... More

We loved the history of this place as well as the atmosphere and awesome tapas! This was our first stop on a tapas tour. The decor was simple yet clean and inviting. I would definitely go back the next time that I visit Santander.

Great little seafood restaurant filled with locals and tourists alike creating a wonderful atmosphere. The seafood was fresh and flavoursome with all the things you would expect from this part of Spain on the menu. Good food, good wine at good prices I have no problem recommending.
