Give this place a wide bearth. We stopped for lunch on a day trip to Salamanca. We both ordered from the menu del dia. My dishes were probably worthy of 2 stars, forgetable and seemingly put together with little thought or care. However my wife ordered swordfish which was close to inedible, I expect it was not fresh. Definitely one... More

We decided to stop at this sidewalk cafe on the way back from a hike. I wish we hadn't. The waiter was upset that we didn't want a whole meal. We only wanted tapas. I had the hamburger slider, which was actually quite good. My friend had the bacon potato concoction, not so good.

Nice restaurant with very friendly staff offering an interesting selection of tapas. In fact you can sample any of the main courses on the menu as a tapa for 2 euros. What a good idea. Seemed very popular with the locals as well.

I've been in Salamanca for about 2 weeks. I've visited this cafe, just around the corner from the University, more than any other. The food is local, fresh and delicious. The service has been excellent and the prices are reasonable. Great place to stop by for a beer and tapa, lunch, alone or with friends. Friendly and accommodating wait staff.... More

Went there when visiting my niece in Salamanca. This is not a prime restaurant, but a nice hole in the wall to grab a quick tapa or tabla and a caña. Nothing to write home about, but a place to grab something. Prices could be better.

I had dinner here with a large group of friends. It was the end of our course and wanted to celebrate! The restaurant is nice and the service was good, but the food, especially for the price was not winning. I was quite disappointed on the quality of my food and that of my friends around me. I would recommend... More

After a long walk decided to stop at this place for a caña and some tapas. Nice tapas, and a service with a smile!

El Ave offers menu del dia for 10 euros (including alcoholic beverages and dessert), regardless if you seat inside or outside. It’s close to University entrance and their menu was surprisingly great value for the price. We ordered gazpacho, jamon with melon as starters and duck in port wine and chicken in herbs as main dishes and icecream for dessert.... More

It's a great place to go in the afternoon, because although it's just across the street from the door to the university, all the tourists are having lunch (or sleeping it off), so it's very quiet. Cool and shady too. Discuss graphic design or football with the barman if you want, or just sit with a beer or a cup... More

We enjoyed a mid day meal here for 10 Euros. It surpassed most in this price range....very good paella and wine, plus pasta and roasted chicken. Lovely location very close to the University. Outside tables had same price as inside.
