Eating late on Monday night in Barceloneta was a bit more difficult than I thought. That said our taxi driver and a barmen recommended Salamanca. We had a paella between 3 of us and it was gorgeous. On a previous trip to Barcelona, I'd unsuccessfully gotten a decent one anywhere! This was fabulous, with lots of prawns, langostines, clams, calamari... More

Visited on a Saturday at lunchtime, very busy with a big queue, but got in quite quickly. All male staff, very busy but did not feel rushed. The house white wine was delicious and we had the paella, a treat while my friend had garlic prawns. A lovely way to spend a sunny summer afternoon in Barcelona

Salamanca restaurant did not disappoint. Their Paella Marisco and Paella Negra were delicious!!! i could eat them forever especially their Paella Negra. We ordered their Gambas ala Plancha as well and their seafood medley called Olympia ( sorry not sure about the name of what they call it) But it's a big dish of assorted grilled seafoods which were all... Recommended by our lovely hotel receptionist. Was told their paella was v.famous. We ordered seaford paella which they said minimum order two persons and a vegetarian paella. The seaford paella would have been tasty but it was far too salty for our us. The waiter told us seaford is meant to be salty because it is from the sea and... More

We, 5 of us, had an excellent lunch taken from the menu of the day, 12 euros each! 3 courses, huge portions, including 2 bottles of wine, water, tea, liqueurs and cake! Surrounded by loads of Spanish people chattering away gave it a great atmosphere for a lunch by the beach! And great value!!

The service was horrible, Sighore was extremely rude and unhelpful, only pointed out the most expensive of everything we asked about, wine, paella etc. AND he was very rude to our kids (who are very polite) they were very embarrassed. After reading the reviews we ordered 1 less serving for the amount of people we had, he was NOT happy... More

We came upon this place by happenstance and went in - the service was good, but a tad pushy sometimes, but the seafood was FRESH! We felt that the food was overall cooked with great produce... Since we had visited with just my wife and 5 year old son, the portions seemed huge - the place seemed more suited to... More

Pretty good seafood restaurant. The atmosphere & service in the outside area let the place down, but as it's mostly for tourists that's not so surprising. Portion size was big. Meals for non fish lovers available too. We had a very good Rioja that was also sensibly priced.

Went to this restaurant as a special treat. They specialise in seafood and everything we had was very fresh and well cooked. The service was exemplary even though the place was heaving both on the outside terrace area and on both floors inside. The waiters gave good advice on all the dishes and although some were pricey it was worth... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
