La Gavina never fails to deliver. We visit each time we are in Barcelona and the food and service is always superb.

We perused the menu as we passed. We were invited in by a very friendly waitress and shown to a table. We were given a full menu. When I said there was a tapas menu displayed at the front of house. She turned away and on returning threw a card menu on the table. We ordered calamari, tortia, small fried... More

The servers were wonderful and very attentive. The location is right on the boardwalk and a great place to admire the sailboats. The food was good, but I thought overpriced. The Paella that I had compared to the Paella I ate at another place for less than half the price. If the goal is to sit in a nice area,... More

The only thing good about the restaurant is the location. Supposedly the restaurant should be a good place to have a Spanish paella. Really it is not. Very expensive and with low quality

This place used to be great. I've eaten here a number of times. Unfortunately they have put the prices up and the quality has gone down. It seems to have become a bit of a tourist trap with bad service. The paella at 22 euros a go was perhaps the worst I have tried in Spain and I have lived... More

Fantastic location in Barceloneta! Nice white linen, excellent bread and EVOO. Very good salad but horribly overpriced!! Although there was much production value/presentation of a lovely looking "in the pan" paella, the quality did not match the hype!! Definitely tasted reheated. Good for sun, wine and people watching

Came here in 2015 for dinner while in town. The place was good then and has gotten better! The atmosphere is outstanding being on the water if eating outside and the inside is very nice as well (clean, efficient, quiet). Food is outstanding. Very fresh seafood and well prepared. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Definitely coming back when in... More

If you could only choose one restaurant to eat at in Barcelona then try La Gavina. I managed two meals in three days and would have happily gone three times. The fish soup is so good and the choice of paella covers all. The prices are highish but the service, position and quality remain outstanding.

Where a pax of 3. Restaurant menu is varied and comprises seafood, steaks, pasta... Service is quite good. Food tastes amazing, fresh and of great quality. Location is very nice right on Barceloneta. Order several dishes including appetizers and main course which all tasted good, especially the salmon plate. Overall, price to quality ratio is very acceptable. Recommended

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
