There was a queue when I stumbled upon this place hoping to find the best churros in town, the wait was fast and we were quickly seated in the bustling room filled with customers. Staff was busy and not attentive, however, our order of churros and hot chocolate arrived fast as the churros were premade - oily and salty, not... More

I saw this on Anthony Zimmerman and I was unsure because he eats some weird things. But I wanted to try the Crema Catalunya and this was around the corner from our hotel. Although the crema catalunya wasn't all that I hoped. I will give this 5 stars just for the churros and chocolates. They were so great we ordered... More

Hot chocolate is rich and thick, the churros nearly stand up in the cup. The cream is piled on top, as high as the cup is deep. An experience like nothing I've ever had before, a great pick me up with tons of charm. There isn't a ton of English spoken, so bring a bilingual friend or practice your Spanish.... More

Great place for breakfast and lunch. Like a dairy shop with restaurant. Try the homemade churos. 125 year old place.

Wonderful quirky and quaint. Lovely selection of meats and cheeses and that amazing thick dark hot chocolate. Basic and old fashioned and no alcohol but lively food and staff were friendly. Good for churros and chocolate

We went here for breakfast Friday morning and it was busy. First we had to wait for a couple of minutes before getting a table, then we sat for like 10 minutes without getting any attention, not even a menu. Then we gave up and took our business elsewhere.

A lovely traditional café, this one has been around for more than 125 years as they proudly advertise. Nice clean room with able sitting space. The churros con chocolate were excellent but the real treat was the crema catalana and the cottage cheese with honey and almonds (mel I mato amb nous) which I recommend to everyone seeking authentic Catalan... Great little café which apparently has been around since the 1880's. The clientele were mostly older spanish ladies and the decor is probably the same as when they were teenagers, so a tourist trap this is not. And that's a good thing! Excellent xurros and the darkest cup of dark chocolate i have ever stared into made for a winning... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
