Went to El Atril for a quick and light dinner. Had the salad with red fruits and cheese platter, with two glasses of the house wine. Good food, and reasonable prices!

I booked this restaurant for New Years Eve after reading all the great reviews. I had advised the restaurant from the UK that my 11 year old daughter was vegetarian and would they be able to cater for her. The advised that they would ask the chef to create something to suit. The set menu was 65.00 euros per person.... More

A trip advisor recommendation found on Christmas day offering a set menu. Great location and a wonderful mix of locals and tourists. Given its high ratings on TA, expected more upscale decor, but complemented by the wonderful food offerings that evening. Wonderful amuse-bouche, amazing porcini soup, and a filet cooked to perfection. Would definitely return.

If you visit Barcelona regularly then you most definitely know El Atril. It's one of those places you end up returning to. Their food is in general pretty ok however I do suggest to try the fish of the day, if available it's always delicious. Compared with restaurants nearby the prices here are less expensive and the portions quite generous.... More

I never had so much chance to get my timing right for eating in Barcelona. Either i'm too early or too late. But I feel like my prayers were answered when i chanced upon El Atril serving lunch at 2pm. Of course i had to get my two course meal. 1st Fries with Jamon and Egg = Heaven in every... More

2 beers, 7 tapas and we were stuffed. Managed to nab a table outside and watched the comings and goings outside in the courtyard. A brilliant way to spend a couple of hours. We shared the tapas with 7 plates between us. Particularly stand out were the butifarra cooked sausage, the garlic mushrooms were superb and the calamari was one... More

We came across this restaurant, by accident, trying to find shelter from a downpour, it was cosy and friendly and nice background music. We chose the €13.50 2 course menu. And were delighted with the results. The food was simple, tasty and incredible value, for my main I had Grilled Hake with sweet potato puree and tomato "soup" (sauce) really... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
