This is a small, pleasant neighborhood place, a couple of blocks back from the beach, with absolutely amazing food. We had a couple of less-common paella-style 'arrossos' - pork and mushroom, and vegetables. They were both incredible. I don't know how they get so much flavor in that rice. The desserts are also terrific. The service was great. We had... More

We ended up here for a late lunch around 3pm after the place we wanted to go to was closed, it was not a busy place. Staff was ok but the special arroz negro had nothing to do with arroz negro, more of a paella with some ink. Rice could have done with a bit more cooking time, very crunchy.... More

I normally avoid La Barceloneta but a local friend recommended this tiny restaurant very strongly so we decided to give it a try. The owner is typically Catalan, he is slightly distant to start with but if he realises that his passions are your passions, then he turns into one of the warmest people I have ever met. So in... Checked TripAdvisor for a good Restuarant in the area as staying by Port Vell. Initially the restaurants on the waterfront come up, however El Xiringo in La Barceloneta showed up with good reviews. So made a booking directly on TripAdvisor which on arrival was confirmed ( Good result) and arrived just on 8.30 pm. The owner was just opening the... More

My mother and I were exploring the fisherman's village in hope of finding a traditional Spanish fish restaurant. Frantically searching on trip advisor to find others reviews we came across this restaurant. I can honestly say that this is the best Paella that we have ever tasted. The service was fab and the food was even better. We will be... More

We were here on the tripadvisor recomandation. Small portions and little expensive 20 euro about 100-120g grilled octopus without anything... The seafood salad was tasty but with small pieces of mussels stone... Not for kids...

I went there 2 days ago with a friend. An italian guy who lives in Barcelona told us to go there if we want to eat a great Paella, so we went. We ordered gazpacho, which was good, and seafood paella. It wasnt so bad, really tasty but I would have preferred having more mussels, clams and shimps. Thats why... More

We keep going back to el xiringuo and enjoy a real feast every time we go. We usually order the dishes we love: almejas with cava sauce, grilled octopus (the best in BCN), seared tuna and one of the rices. We had the veggie rice with truffle which was amazing. Really fantastic little restaurant

Will admit this restaurant is off the beaten track and not the main promenade, plus it can only seat (we calculated) 7 groups; however my partner and I had the seafood paella (needs to be shared) and my god!! This was without doubt the best paella I ever had! Ignoring that the 3 other couples there at the same time... More

For appetizer we had squids in their dyes croquettes which were to die for... As main dish we ate a paella with fish and gambas and it was awesome!!! And for dessert we had a chocolate cake "with a surprise"...

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
