I liked a lot, went there a couple of times. Paella is very rich but not cheap. They are closed to the touristic area and very well advertised. I do recommend this restaurant, however as many well known restaurants they charge you what they deserve (in other part of spain you would get a 30% cut price).

I went here as a recommendation from the hotel receptionist. He said he would take his family there so we knew it would be good. The first dish was basically a cold app - some sort of salted cod salad. it was ok. We each had one bite and was done with it. It tasted very fishy and would've benefited... More

We have been coming here for years with our family and we love it. It is one of the old, classical places in Barcelona and the place has so much history and atmosphere. Seafood and paella are the best options here - make sure you try different variants of the paella - all are great and far from the horrible... More

We were at this restaurant on the 16th of November and had a very good experience. We had to wait about one half hour for a table but the time was well spent. I think their private label red wine is fantastic and some of the best we had in Barcelona. The food was good but the service was a... More

Rude service and super overpriced for what they offer. Don't recommend! Don't go there, you can find much better options in the area. There paella is ridiculous, look at the pictures, no seafood at all. Go to LA PARADETA if you want real and fresh seafood.

Do not read the negative reviews, fantastic dining experience. They found a table for us, even though we hadn't booked, and when we left it was packed! (Sunday) The rich man's paella was amazing, even if it was €20 each, worth every penny in my book. (most people had ordered the same as us) Pianist playing when we left, great... More

Very good restaurant visit by the locals and with very good quality of food. Paella is great and also the fish is fresh and good. It has a old Style flavour but it has a great atmosphere.

The setting is lovely, the food is excellent although with the fish platter some vegetables, rice etc would have been nice, it was just fish, the truffles I had for desert wer to die for. The service was a little over the top, a little to attentive.

Opening its doors in 1836 to begin offering over 150 years of excellence, Restaurant de les 7 Portes is truly the most classic of Barcelona's eating places. Here, you can enjoy the finest Catalan cooking in an intimate setting or in one of the spacious banquet halls, accompanied by Spain's best wines and "cavas" (sparkling wines) from the well-stocked cellar. The restaurant is housed in the Pòrtics d'en Xifré, a building declared a national monument and the first place in Barcelona where running water was installed. In 1942, it became the property of Paco Parellada, founder of one of the foremost dynasties of restaurateurs in all of Catalonia.

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
