This cafe had been recommended to us by my daughter's friend as being the place to go for churros as the chocolate was amazing. I can certainly agree with that. We had two portions of churros as we were greedy but only needed one cup of chocolate and it was plenty for us both. We also had an enormous glass... More

Cafe del opera doesn't serve coffee beyond breakfast. I understood that the term cafe was linked to coffee. No explanation was given for not serving coffee on the ramblas.

Don't expect avant-garde cuisine, but the churros cannot be beaten! The chocolate dip is so rich, thick, and layered with flavor. Perfect for breakfast or merienda.

Visited here on the first day as it was recommended in the guide book. A lovely little cafe on The Rambla. We just had a quick snack but we would definitely recommend this place for its relaxed old world atmosphere. A very cute little gem indeed. I'd love to visit again and try the tapas!

Lovely coffee, lovely turn of the century decor, right on the Rambla with excellent service. We particularly like the freshly cooked, still hot and crispy Churros. Very reasonably priced two cafe con leche and two portions of Churros for less than €7. Worth a visit.

OK. Let's be clear, I am giving this bar 5 stars for the decor, the experience & the amazing prices for coffee & brandy, not the food as I haven't eaten anything there. After doing visits over 16 years, this place never changes. It is as if it has stopped in time. This might not appeal to some of you... More

When you walk in, you feel like you're in history. Orginal structure and decorated walls. The meals are very delicious and staff are friendly. We preferred there every day for breakfast.

We had an enjoyable night here. Liked the overall laid back atmosphere. We had tapas, nice and tasty and Cava Sangria. Will return next time in Barcelona

If you are looking for breakfast and don't want to pay hotel prices then this is a good place to go. Not the smartest place along Las Ramblas but good for traditional and continental breakfast at a reasonable price. Interestingly enough there were a number of Spanish people in there when we visited. The staff speak good english.

We wanted to eat dinner somewhere while strolling on La Rambla one evening, so we had a look at the menu for this restaurant. The pictures looked great :) so we decided to sit down at one of their outdoor tables and have dinner there. We decided to share a platter of tapas and our waiter suggested one of the... More

Staying in La Rambla

Neighbourhood Profile
La Rambla
Barcelona's most famous street was once a dry riverbed. Now, La Rambla is a 1200-metre boulevard, and a major draw for visitors. During the day, La Rambla fills with pedestrians, some of which stroll past impressive human statues and artists while others take a break to people-watch while enjoying a drink at one of the many terraces. Housed here is the iconic Boqueria Market that offers one of the most varied and appetising selections of local produce and specialty meats and treats. While it’s important for tourists to keep an eye on their belongings at all times, this area is most safely explored in the daytime and is a must see for everyone who visits.
