Lovely old cafe opposite theatre on las ramblas. Stopped off for drinks, very relaxing laid back style in a historic cafe

Decided to run into this cafe because it was raining and have a coffee. What a charming and interesting place with the wonderfully decorated panels. We decided to have lunch and ordered the tapas and a spaghetti bolognese, best we had tried so far. Waiter service was quick and efficient. I am just glad it was raining and went inside as... More

On recommendation of a local friend we stopped here for a light lunch. The place has a long well established history and we noted several local people enjoying the food and drink. We had good service from a waiter who took the time to joke around with us in a enjoyable way. We did not order anything special so hard... More

I came into this place under advice from a friend. Walked in, unique, mirrors, lovely artwork and a real quaint feel. Had no expectations but ordered Chocolate Churros which is a patisserie twist with a cup of melted chocolate. Oh dear lord it was divine, it wasn't too rich or sickly. It was almost tempting to drink the chocolate straight... More

I'm a citizen of Barcelona. I know that las Ramblas is a turisty place, but this cafe is very special and full of charm. Outside they have a nice terrace, and not so expensive, but they told me in a terrible and arrogant way that it wasn't time for coffee! At 16:00 in Barcelona! When normally we eat from 13... More

We only had beers here, no food. The best part was the people-watching and the lovely theater across the way. The waiter checked on us a few rimes which was good, but we also felt compelled to watch our bags dilugently on the patio with all of the people passing.

There are plenty of better options along Las Ramblas. We had lunch and drinks here on a rainy day and we were utterly disappointed.

We thought we'd have breakfast here after seeing the photos on TA and the reviews seemed favourable, the waiter asked if we'd like a glass of orange to go with our breakfast, 2 of us said yes...so disappointed when the food arrived, bland, boring and horrid wet ham. That orange that we agreed to have...it cost more than the breakfast,... More

We had heard mixed things about Café de L'Opera, mainly good, and one particular item to definitely try was the chocolates & churros. From the pictures they look absolutely delicious so last Thursday, 12th Feb when we checked in it was on our to do list as we hit La Ramblas. It's not too hard to spot as you walk... More

Staying in La Rambla

Neighbourhood Profile
La Rambla
Barcelona's most famous street was once a dry riverbed. Now, La Rambla is a 1200-metre boulevard, and a major draw for visitors. During the day, La Rambla fills with pedestrians, some of which stroll past impressive human statues and artists while others take a break to people-watch while enjoying a drink at one of the many terraces. Housed here is the iconic Boqueria Market that offers one of the most varied and appetising selections of local produce and specialty meats and treats. While it’s important for tourists to keep an eye on their belongings at all times, this area is most safely explored in the daytime and is a must see for everyone who visits.
