This was a lively and atmospheric tapas bar with really friendly staff. A good selection of tapas and full of locals so authentic experience.

We ate here twice and really enjoyed all of the different tapas dishes we tried. Service was efficient and in both cases the waiters were fairly attentive but unfortunately not overly friendly. Very lively place, full of locals, so it's the place to be if you want to experience a more authentic eating place.

Decided to try Jai-Ca thanks to a guide book recommendation which highlighted it as a good place to go for sea food tapas. Very happy we did as despite the fairly unassuming location and decor, the food on offer was very good. A great variety of tapas on offer, every one of which we ordered was very tasty and well... This bar is in a quite street close to the beach but has a great atmosphere with lots of local people visiting. The tapas is great quality and exceptional.

Very good and reasonably priced tapas meal. Recommended by a local and it didn't disappoint. The waiter was very helpful although we didn't speak much spanish. We went exclusively his recommendations and they were all good. Best were meatballs, chicken, calamari, and potatos jaica.

We were on holiday in Madrid & Barcelona and must admit Jai-ca was the best choice of the whole holiday where we returned more times. We loved the variety of Estrella beers on tap and the great tapas. I love the calamares a la romana and the patatas bravas and here you are getting the most authentic and also the... More

Jai-Ca was recommended in our guide book so when we were in Barcelonetta we thought we would stop by for lunch. We ordered a selection of the seafood tapas dishes including octopus, razor clams, baby squid and anchovies. They were all delicious, especially the octopus. Would definitely come back here again!

We found this place wandering around in Barceloneta one day. The baby was hungry, and we needed a rest. Jai-Ca was crowded, as it almost always is, so you might have to wait, but they'll make it worth your while! T his is a no nonsense place, just outside of the main tourist routes. The waiters work hard and fast,... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
