I went here because of the good reviews on trip advisor. It's a quaint, little restaurant very close to the main road. I ordered the "bomba" because I heard it's a bestseller, but to be honest it doesn't really appeal to me. I ordered calamari as well but it was a bit tasteless to me. I kept dipping it in... More

Now this is a restaurant I'm coming straight back to as soon as I get back to Barcelona. Expect a wait to get a seat as it's very popular but if you are lucky you will be able to order a drink while you wait and stand in line. Once seated be adventurous try as many things as possible as... More

Loved this place - no fuss, really good Catalan food, where you feel like you're eating with the locals in an area full of tourist-trap Paella restaurants. The waiter didn't speak much English, but they have English menus and was really friendly/helpful. Lots of choice on the menu, and will return when we visit Barceloneta again! We went for the... Lovely atmosphere, really good food (tapas), cozy and loud - but that's just a part of being in Barcelona. We ate here during our first day so it was a great start for our weekend!

There was a bit of a queue to get a table but it was sunny and we didn't wait long as the waiters rushed around and service was fast. It was Easter Monday so was particularly busy when we arrived at mid afternoon. Food choices were good the mussels and black pudding were good but the potato bombas speciality were... More

The restaurant felt very authentic. It's well decorated with two key sentences appearing above the bar. One tells us that the staff don't speak English, but they make awsome food. The other claims there's no. wifi so people should talk among themselves. Even without understanding each other language, we managed to order from the English menu and get good ansewers... More

I'm going to boringly mention the potato balls, little minced meat and fluffy potato balls, with a crispy coating and alioli and hot sauce are.... Amazing, so much so my husband is looking to make them at home 😁. The veal was tasty, as were the sardines. Also very yummy was the toasted bread with garlic sauce. Sangria was lovely,... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
