Classy tapas restaurant. Our favourite in Barcelona. Have visited since early 2000. Good and bumpy service. Ask to sit at left side of bar if you want more lively atmosphere.

Usually having a ‘Michelin plate’ logo would mean above average food. Well this just doesn’t live up to it’s cousin Bar Cañete. We were in the area on the upper Eixample district so we thought to try out Paco Meralgo. The food and service were...not as good IMHO as Bar Cañete. We ordered also these croquetas in sepie, and while the croquettes were delicious, we felt a hint of racism in the name as next to it in parenthesis says ‘Obama’. I think they should be sensitive to calling dishes based on their color. I hope they understand this specially with the new wave of race sensitivity issues. We also ordered the navajas which were excellent as well but usually that’s based on the quality of the produce as it was just straight up grilled.. we didn’t bother get the dessert as we weren’t that enthused when we saw it (looked average).More

According to the price you would expect high standard of food. Nothing further from the truth. Very disappointing. Octopus dish was bad, croquettes and the rest of the six dishes were mediocre. We didnt even finish them. Fua on a toast was the only dish...that I enjoyed, although still, it was far from the standard you would expect for those prices: Happy to pay them if the food was great.More

I was in Barcelona for 2 weeks and I went twice to this restaurant. I had to go back for the Patatas Bravas (spicy potatoes) and the "buñuelo de bacalao" (cod), the best in Barcelona. You have to make reservations because it is always full...by locals and tourists alike. The place is small and cozy and with great service, thou sometimes slow because they are so busy but be patient and you'll have a wonderful meal. The list of tapas is extensive and there is much to choose from. The Croquettes are amazing, I had the calamari and the jam. My daughter is vegetarian and she also had some amazing tapas. I will definitely go back next time I am in Barcelona.More

This is a lovely restaurant and it was our favourite meal we had whilst on holiday in Barcelona a while ago. The tapas we chose were all so tasty, the patatas bravas were the best we had in Barcelona and the chicken and ham croquettes...were so good we just had to order a second serving! There’s a great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed dining here and will most definitely be visiting again when I’m next in Barcelona!More

This place was recommended to me by locals. And I loved every minute there. Quite a long list of tapas, and all choices are looking great. Please, remember to order jamon, green peppers, anchovies, croquettes. Didn't like their cheese plate (manchego), though. Wines are showing...an interesting mix of Catalan and Spanish options. Prices are decent, and the quality is great. Service is fast, friendly and a bit funky. Loved every minute there. Tip: please please order your table in advance. After 7.30 PM they tend to be full, even on the week days. Verdict: a big YES!More

Like other reviewers, we didn't see upstairs, however it cannot have the atmosphere of downstairs, where the kitchen is and all the staff are busy working, talking etc. It doesn't sound like the experience you're looking... More
