Went in clean fun candy shop / fifties dinner feel. You get 6 churros with each chocolate which is enough to satisfy a small group very affordable and even had free water which after a night on the town was a welcome experience if you can find it you should try it

Best Hot Chocolate and Churros in town. Open 24 hours a day... so is perfect to go for breakfast, mid-day snack.... or to go after a long night of partying with friends...! Is a most of in Madrid.

The chocolateria has mostly quality stuff. I didnt like the churros that much, but their ice cream is pretty damn good. The thing that put me off mostly, was that it is most of the time overcrowded.

It's hyped up but really does live up to it's reputation. Churros and porros (the thicker variety) aren't as greasy as some other places and the chocolate is excellent. Order at the till then find a seat and the waiter will take your receipt and bring your order.

We had breakfast here in one morning. The restaurant is quite popular. All the places were reserved and we even have other travelers around our tables. The place and atmosphere is very good.

Tried this well known place. Churros were fine, we are not big fans but wanted to try. Only ordered 1 between 2 which was sufficient for this rich snack.

What can I say that hasn't been said. Delicious churros in rich hot chocolate. Mmmmm and it's opposite where we're staying. I expect we'll just have to go again. And again. And again 😘

I had read that MAdrid was the best place for churros and chocolate. This restaurant was proclaimed one of the best. The chocolate is thick and creamy. The churros were fresh. Yum! The best part is that it's open 24 hours a day.

'Churros' are one of the most genuine yet simple foods Madrid has on offer. And you won't be experiencing better than in San Gines. I love to order half a dozen an a cup of hot chocolate, which is rather thick, not simply a glass of milk with chocolate flavour but true melted chocolate liquified with water. Oh! About the... This place is well known and it has a long legacy (my grandmother knew this place) My mom and me had to check out their Churos as we are Argentinian and the Churos in Argentina are the best. Well they were fresh - no doubt about that, but to our taste, too oily and slim. They give it to you... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
