This tortilla was a fantastic start to our recent break in Madrid. We had a tortilla to share and although it may be simple food but its simple food made really well . If you want a great light meal go here you won't be disappointed

Ok first and foremost....a tortilla is not an omelette, please think of this when you order. But don't miss this place. If you want to be adventurous go for the one with chorizo, but if you want to be traditional and acquire the taste...eggs and potatoes is the way to go. If it's early, orange juice or water (although it's... More

The tortilla (or omelet) was incredible here. Unfortunately, that is all we had. It was one of the best egg dishes we had while in Spain.

Historical restaurant underneath the Plaza Mayor. It really is a cave turned restaurant. They serve several Spanish favorites but they are known for their Spanish Tortilla. Omelet of eggs, potato and onions. Next to many other Little caves turned restaurant. Try it..with a glass of Sangria!!

Visited this restaurant as part of a tapas tour. The restaurant ambience is fairly basic and seems to be made in almost a tunnel. One one needs to bend and go to different parts of the restaurant. Once inside, the food is great.. It serves the best Spanish Omlettes that I have had and the Sangria which is served in... More

This is a very old, no frills restaurant where, as their name implies, is known primarily for their spanish omelettes which they call tortillas. One omelette can feed 2-3 people if you treat it like tapas. Their chorizo sausage is also superb. Go there to try the omelette and chorizo with a nice bottle of wine, and then go to... More

We visited this restaurant two days ago. It's not fancy at all, was full of locals when we were there. We sat right at the back and had plain tortilla & a jug of sangria. The tortilla was soft and creamy, just delicious. Make this a stop on your night out (the mushroom place next door was pretty good too).... More

If you would like traditional Spanish Tortilla, don’t look further. The Tortillas are creamy and very nice. The building is very old and is part of the Madrid underground. Friendly service and very traditional. Good points: - Best Tortillas - Friendly service - Lovely building Bad points - It is not a pace you would take a date Recommendation: Potato... More

The place is like a cellar and quite old. Service was ok but this is not a fancy restaurant. Just eat the tortilla and move on. The tortilla was good and they were happy to cook more the tortilla for us being that my wife was pregnant. One small complain, ideally the place could be clean

I am giving this an "excellent" because I went there for one reason and one reason only: to have good tortilla espanol. This was the best I had in Madrid. it looks hokey and kitschy, complete with Fred Flinstone murals in its cavernous rooms, but the point is, like I said, they have the best tortilla espanol ever. If you... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
