.... for a food a little bit above average. Some plates were excellent (Revuelto de Trigueros y Gambas, and the always present Gambas al Ajillo), while the paellas were just average. All in all it works because of the value ratio, and for the above average appetizers. If you are looking for a great paella, for starters maybe you are... More

We were in a group of 3 persons, of which one was vegetarian. The cook offered to make us a completely vegetarian paella for 1 person because normally a paella is cooked minimum for 2 people. Also, we ordered the special seafood paella which was delicious, highly recommended!

Starved for some true Spanish cuisine, we were directed to this small neighborhood restaurant by our hotel staff. Old fashioned and traditional, great service and good food: white asparagus with tomatoes for appetizer followed by "pulpo a la gallega" all washed down with chilled house white wine,it all made for a great dinner! Need to go back for paella!

I am not am expert of Paella, but I enjoyed with my wife. Sure it is a tourist place, but the taste was good. Wine list poor but st least affordable prices for the wine. Price of Paella is not cheap but not exagerated. The ambient is nothing special but clean and warm.

Not at all worth it. Too touristy with horrible paella. Place is obviously a tourist destination. Although the staff are very friendly and service very good, the food is almost inedible.

Our hotel recommended it. We choose Paella, salad and appetizer and also wine. Paella (seafood) was very good. Services and ambiance was excellent. Good selection of Spanish wines. I really like the person explaing the food (Paella) and other choices. Price was very reasonable. For two of us with wine, salad, appetizers and paella was 81 euros.

My boyfriend and I were keen to get good vegetable paella when we were in Madrid. This place is a really cute authentic restaurant. We had really delicious paella and a bottle of lovely red wine. The price was reasonable and the staff were very attentive and helpful even though our Spanish is poor. Also had a menu in English... More

La Paella de la Reina is an established local restaurant that has been serving paella for many years. It is well recommended if you are wanting to sample paella. Certainly we had an most enjoyable meal with very friendly service.

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
