After eating lunch there daily for a week we found the same people at the same tables every day, we became part of that family. We were there with a 10 year old. Good food, a bottle of wine on the table, not expensive. Very enjoyable. I think it's different at night.

Had 3 tapas, one was good (mini sausages in cider), one was ok (galician style pork) and one was bearly edible (the croquettes). Prices are a little high, and portions are medium sized. Wouldn't go there again

Evening meal on a Monday here. Old style Romanesque high ceilings, pillars etc, with the unique touch of empty bottles balancing on beams overhead, Paella took a while but nice, toasted tapas enjoyable also , with some surprisingly affordable wine fur this part of town (between plaza Sol and Santa Ana).

Came to watch the Euros Semi Final with my family. The restaurant was empty so we got a good table in front of the television. We had tapas - they were excellent. The staff were friendly, and the beer cold. A good night had by all.

I have traveled extensively in Spain so feel I am familiar with typical menu del dia fare. I ate here twice and came away both times quite pleased. The meal was excellent for the price (10.5 euro, including half carafe of wine, in the heart of Madrid, not some hinterlands in Extremadura) and the service was excellet, too. I had... More

We were wandering around near our hotel looking for somewhere to eat and came across this restaurant. The service was really friendly and efficient and the place looked enticing. For 44 euros we had the 'menu especial' - 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 coffees and a bottle of wine. We could have had 2 desserts instead of coffees but the... More

So we are wandering around the side streets near pl sol where there is this warren of interesting alleys and ways. The companions are dubious about several places. We are hungry. Finally a "puller in" entices us with a menu to discuss. We go in. Netherlands meal is fine. Not five-star just good food at a fair price. Two bottles... More

My husband and I often eat at this restaurant when in Madrid. They have a nice a la carte menu, and we also like to eat their menú del día. They are absolute kings of wine and their table wine has never disappointed us. Great service, great staff. It feels good when a waiter remembers your last visit and what... More

I came in here to eat and expected an experience because I thought it was actually a wine museum. In fact, it is not - just a regular restaurant. No chance to taste any wines or something like that. So I just had Tapas, which were okay, but the waiter could not even say anything about all the wine bottles... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
