Quite a small and compact restaurant but it certainly packs a punch. Warm and friendly greeting as soon as you enter, browse the menu and then take advice from the staff on portion size, what a great idea. Food is freshly cooked, tasty and very reasonably priced, well worth finding.

Popped in for lunch. Had the pork and chicken hot plates and then the oxtail. Sooooo tasty, the Oxtail was out of this world!

Although Calle Cava Baja is stuffed with restaurants, we tried this one because of the good reviews on TA. Sadly, we only managed to squeeze in before they closed for lunch. I say sadly, because it was empty and we just had time for a single course but I'm so glad we tried it. We had a tomato and goat's... More

We stayed a week in Madrid and ate at a few restaurants in the city. This one was one of the best with good dishes and good value.

The food was great, but the waitress wasn't really friendly. she did not gave us feeling she was happy to have us as a customer - maybe she prefers Spanish guests over tourists. The food on the menu is mostly sea-food

Hungry for a late lunch, we stumbled onto Casa Lucas. It was filled with locals, and happily buzzing. Our server kindly helped us with food allergy issues, and recommended some excellent wines. Pinchos were delicious. Moderately priced, excellent food and service. Thanks to the staff for a great experience!

Indeed this is a good place to stop and have a Glace of wine and some tapas. I recommend to go for pinchos and the portion is so big you have to share. Gourmet food at very reasonable price. Good service.

Arrived to an empty tapas bar at 8pm, ordered tapas from owner who was very friendly, had several plates and looked around and the place was full of a mix of tourists and locals on their way home from work. Memorable pork on onions with scrambled egg on top. Really enjoyed meal and very good value.

Staying in La Latina

Neighbourhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighbourhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighbourhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
