Simply delicious! We were on a Tapas, Taverns and History tour with Devour Madrid tours, and Taberna Real was our first stop, mere moments from our meeting point by the statue of Isabel II. We had a glass of sweet vermouth (delicious) and a plate...More

We happened upon this place by accident. Really nice outdoor seating looking at the Opera building. Makes for a great atmosphere. Food excellent. Only negative was a problematic beggar that the staff didn't shoe away. Normal for the area.

You know, that kind of place made for tourists. There are many locals though because the wonderful Teatro Real is just in the same square. Be ready to find there actors, beauty people and celebrities after the show, just hanging out with some wine and...More

We stopped here as the first stop on a tapas tour and it was one of my favorite stops. We were treated to sweet vermouth, very different from the dry vermouth in the states, and Jamon Iberico. Both were excellent!

I came here on a food tour and was introduced to Jamon Iberico de bellota from Joselito. Literally melts on the tongue and heavenly. The place has a lot of history and great artifacts, but the staff wasn't overly friendly and I can see how...More

As part of a food tour, we stopped at Taberna Real as one of our tapas restaurants. We sampled the jamon (very good), but the stand out for me was the vermouth. I had never sampled vermouth before and this place really had a nice...More

Perhaps the best Jamón Ibérico that we enjoyed in Madrid, perfectly sliced. Make sure that you try the Campo Real olives, toasted bread with tomato salsa and their hand-made potato chips (fried in olive oil). The Caña is cold and refreshing, as is the Tinto...More
