Table service was old school and cool. Vino and Cava was exceptional. Oysters were expectedly Atlantic and a little briny for my taste, but the streak and the lamb were killer. The lemon sorbet for dessert was not be me missed.

I did not eat my cod fish pil-pil . Could not chew it! I left it untouched, noone asked me why! They asked if i want dessert. The beef entrecote was stiff too. House wine fine, fish soup tasty, atmosphere nice.. prices 14-22 each dish

I had dinner for business in this fashion popular place in Madrid center. First disapointment was a table in a remote area, mezzanine, strong smell from grilles/fried food. Food was perfect.

We went for a late lunch. The service was quite attentive but I found the food lacking. Certainly not bad, but for the price I think you should expect more. I had the lamb and it lacked flavour and substance. FYI - like many restaurants in Madrid, if you don't want bread, don't accept it, because you will be charged,... More

We've visited this restaurant first when arrived to Madrid. The atmosphere was pleasant and intimate. And almost at once they brought us starters: olives with fish and some bread. Rice with shrimps was really very good! And also white vine they suggested was fantastic! My mark is excellent!

This is a sleek, contemporary restaurant that serves excellent seafood and is walking distance from the Palace Hotel and the major museums. We had dinner reservations and were warmly greeted and immediately seated upon arrival. A waiter took our drinks and bread was presented. We ordered four appetizer dishes to share for two. They were: 1) mescluns and fresh fruits... More

After a long walk around the Prado museum we came to have a little afternoon bite and enjoyed the loveliest service, fabulous Galician oysters, cold albarino wine and griled squids and prawns - everything very heartily made and tasted like heaven. Fabulous atmosphere just to sit back and relax - the staff was super friendly and fast. Loving it!

Came here on my first night in Madrid having stumbled across it near my hotel. The service and decor were exceptional....nice aperitifs for starters which was olives and a chickpea stew. For starters I had the special clams which were the best I've had - sumptuous lemon sauce with the sweetest clams. For mains I had the fish with pil-pil... More

The moment we entered from the side entrance rather than the front one, warm staff greeted us quickly finding us a cozy table for two. Our waiter suggested a lower priced wine that was excellent. Soup and salad followed, both delicious. Although we'd had our hearts set on paella, there was none on the menu. That said, the rice seafood... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
