We had a fabulous lunch at this family-owned restaurant. Order tapas of whichever kind and you can't go wrong. Prices were reasonable, the staff, friendly.

Close to the Gran Via, in a very nice old house with atmosphere. Great food, experienced and helpful service. We enjoyed it very much to be here.

We stayed a short walk from this little place, we stumbled upon it the first evening, and we were struck by the obvious loyalty of the staff who appeared to be very professional, and the atmosphere on a busy night was just what you would like on a weekend away, the food is a combination of Tapas dishes and slightly... Review is for the tapas bar, not the restaurant. We had several tapas/raciones. Food was OK, not great. Typical tapas bar atmosphere. When we asked a couple at the bar what they were eating we wound up in conversation with them, adding to the evening. The man introduced us to tinto de verano, so naturally I had to have a... More

If the service had slowed down by 25% I could have cleant the third plate of garnish residues, didn't know that red wine could fit Seafood so well

This lovely restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel concierge since we wanted to eat close to the hotel after a long day. This is a typical Spanish restaurant serving both Tapas as well as individual dishes. It is a bar with a restaurant at the back. It seems very popular from the amount of people both at that... More

Depending on your appetite, you can either stay at the bar (nice little typical Madrid bar, which serves tapas) or go through to the restaurant. We did the latter (we were hungry) and this was a great experience: I would recommend the squid ink rice, which was nice (although a bit under seasoned to our taste) and also the ox... More

A favorite Asian catch up in shops is "same same but different". Of course it's never different but the slogan remains nice. However with tapas there is no need to advertise anything! Because you know that (classical) tapas will remain the same everywhere, so if they are significantly more expensive than anywhere else they must be really, really better or... More

Bocaito was founded 45 years ago and we have a wide experience in our sector. It is a family business opened in 1966 in Madrid. In 2006, Francisco Bravo y Concha Ortega started running the restaurant. Our aim is to keep the perfect balance between tradition and modernity of the Castillian and Andalusian cuisines. A perfect place to taste Spanish dishes and tapas. Bocaíto is located in the heart of Madrid, a top dining destination for those that want to taste Spanish cuisine. A few minutes away from the Cibeles Fountain, our restaurant is situated in Calle Libertad, number 6, next to Gran Vía and Calle Alcala. In our bars and in our dinning rooms too, you can taste all kind of tapas, among which we highlight our special toasts, Iberian ham and loin, salt-dried meat from Astorga (Leon), croquettes, stuffed mussels. If you like spicy food you can not leave without trying our Luisito. In Bocaito, you will have the chance to taste Castillian cuisine dishes (such as lamb and beef), Andalusian delights (small fried fish from Malaga) and a selection of the most typical fishes from the north of Spain (hake). If, by the way, you like stews, you can ask our staff fot the daily's hot dish, very representative of the Spanish gastronomy. We do have a gourmet menu, the perfecto choice if you wasn't to share with friends and try a selection of tapas and our most popular dishes.

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
