Dined here with friends as we wanted Spanish food. We certainly got it. A good menu with friendly service, nice sangria too. We ate paella and all enjoyed it, servings are generous so dessert wasn't an option. Would recommend, this is not a with chips venue so enjoy it

Sometimes I just don't get why certain restaurants receive the reviews they do on trip advisor. We were slightly hesitant to eat here but decided to give it a try anyway. No reservation midweek and managed to get a table. There's no doubt they rely on tourism as it means very little if any effort is made by any of... More

We came across this place based on the review from Rick Steves. We did not make any reservations so we were at the door by 8pm. The waiter was as mentioned - a little unfriendly. But there was another younger, good-looking waiter who was very friendly and helpful. Food-wise, we had the arroz and paella. It was nothing fantastic. We've... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant late in the evening and found the food quite good; particularly the prawn with mushroom and garlic. The steak was very tough. We went back a few nights later for the prawn and mushroom dish.

Visited here on Saturday night, we had booked. Upon arrival the welcome was....well there wasn't one. The waiter gestured at a table, so we sat there. We ordered our food, the waiter (a different one) was less than enthusiastic. The wine list is on an iPad, a good idea but it was slow and clumsy. The food arrived and was... More

We really appreciate your comments: the wine list on iPad is a good idea, the food arrived and was ok for the price, the waitress that bought the bill was nice, we have a great location. More

Never visited before because of mixed opinions from friends. Reccomended this time by the tourism office and so good we came. You better have a reservation because it is crowded by locals and tourists. Their special paella is worth the extra charge. Ambiance, service and food quality are excellent. Great wines available. Will be expensive but worthy.

It was our last evening of this trip and we wanted to celebrate my saints-name day together. By chance, where we chose was from down south, but the dishes were excellent. Great fish, great meats, and very nice wine. Not cheap, mid-priced, but good value for food, choice and service.

We devoured their paella! It was unbelievable. They bring several dishes table side, fresh, hot and right onto your plate. If you can get there around 8pm, you will surely get a table, otherwise you may get hit with a wait, but don't let that discourage you. Don't pass this place up.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
