We booked the place with a coupon to have my birrthday lunch - and were very disappointed. The place itself is nice (not more), but far away to be a noble michelin restaurant. The waiters are really UNFRIENDLY with very limited English - would be no problem, if the rest would be fine. But it was not. The degustation menu... More

I was disappointed with this restaurant, which displays a certificate of gastronomic excellence on the wall as you enter. I found the atmosphere cold, the service pompous and intrusive, the space badly laid out, and the food so-so. Two different fish dishes were horribly salty. I would not return.

We chose this restaurant on the basis of favourable Michelin and trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent - among the best in Spain so far. The staff are welcoming and delightful, there is an English translation and the owner's English is very good. With 6 in the party we covered a good cross section of... More

I have been many times to this restaurant. It is a gem of a place but it is hidden away. The menu offers traditional Spanish food. The prices are not cheap but given the quality of the food they are justified. It is a small, family run restaurant, they are very friendly and the service is excellent. In terms of... More

We picked the restaurant from the Michelin guide. The main atraction was the degustation menu at €38 with wine included (one glass per dish). We ended up going there 4 days in a row until the day we left They changed the menu every day!!!!!!!! . The food was absolutely delicious, the wine was perfect and the service impeccable. The... We chose this restaurant from the online Michelin guide. Rated "Bib Gourmand" it definitely lived up to and even exceeded its rating, serving exquisitely cooked traditional Spanish food with the occasional twist, such as the generous chunks of foie gras that topped the grilled scallops. Excellent food and good value.

Highly recommended. The food is amazing and the service is great. They invited us to cava, melon with jamón and coconut muffins. The entrecot and the salad was awesome. And the desert incredible. Nice ambience too

We chose Bolivar as in the Michelin guide it holds a Bib Gourmand. We were not disappointed. One of the best dinners we had in Madrid. Please read on. Bolivar is a family owned restaurant located just north of the city centre. Decoration and table decoration give the restaurant a comfortable ambiance. Service is adequate and friendly. The menu is... More

We found this through the Michelin guide and cross checked against Trip Adviser and we were not disappointed. A late start at 9pm and the room full of locals. We had the degustation with wines for 38 Euros and had a great variety of dishes and Spanish wines. Terrific value and great service. Well worth while finding it online, booking... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
