After 2 failed attempts, we finally managed to go when open (it closes Sunday eve and Monday all day). Oh boy was it worth it! I simply could not believe it was empty whilst other truly mediocre restaurants nearby (like Bazaar) were full. The food was excellent and the service great too. I was a tad apprehensive to start with... More

Quite an exciting menu. Well prepared and not too expensive. As it is a popular restaurant it is busy and staff is not always available (downstairs)

After almost 2 weeks in spain, I have to admit I was getting bored of the traditional tapas dishes. Madrid has a reputation for having some of the freshest seafood, and I love sushi, so went looking for a sushi restaurant which no longer exists :( Down the block a bit, I came across this place. The food was delicious,... More

A traditional Spanish restaurant in the heart of Madrid. Delicious food & great wine. Very good service; the waitress was well-informed on the wine list and advised us not to over-order as the portions were quite large and rich. The pianist was great and made the meal that much more enjoyable. Would definitely visit again when in Madrid.

To begin, we really enjoyed our time and meal at Extremadura however it ended on a bit of a low note. We found this restaurant walking by and thought the pianist was awesome (which he is!!!) and thought we woud give it a shot. Please keep in mind the staff speak very little English before you read this review. We... More

We've been there on our last night in Madrid. It was a monday night. The pianist was a bit to loud for just 2 people eating there. But it added a romantic mood. The food was super delicious. We didn't had any appetizer or desert cuz it was already more food than we expected (so was the bill). The personal... More

I recently went to try their restaurant week menu for 25 Euros. They provide you bread, very delicious port pate, and a refreshing cabbage salad. Then I chose the fried white asparagus then the pan-seared duck breast. The food was soooo good. The space is pretty intimate. It is located in near the Chueca metro station. A very good little... Had dinner here on a Saturday night. We just chanced upon this place. It was a few weeks ago now so can't remember the starter we had, but it was good. We both had roast goat for the main course which was excellent. Also had an excellent bottle of wine Habla 7, I think. The pianist really added to the... More

...well then chose Restaurante Extremadura. The restaurant is typically spanish, bright lights in the ceiling, not especially cosy but with that genuine atmosphere found more and more rarely in restaurants nowadays. We got the last availabe table in the restaurant around 10 pm and the other patrons were locals as far as we could see. An old mas was playing... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
