I stumbled on this place on a stroll from Basilica Concepcion de Nuestra Señora to Retiro park and decided to quell the Mexican food craving. It's a clean little cafe with the kitchen in the middle. They have outdoor seating on the sidewalk, and in summer the front facade opens to bring the outdoors inside. I was greeted by a... More

We found this restaurant while walking randomly in Goya...what a nice surprise! Charbroiled paradise in Madrid... they are super kids (and stroller friendly) and the wine selection is good and perfect for the drinker on a budget. I'd definitely recommend.

This is my brother's local weekday menu (10€) haunt. I couldn't get him out of there with a hydraulic jack if I tried. Me neither! The food is very very good and crucially it's totally different to the typical Spanish fair in the way dishes are made. Same ingredients but always different. Maybe not for tourists on short stays, but... More

My wife and I kept missing this place as it always seemed to open AFTER we ate dinner. We caught it open one night and were not disappointed. We ordered the "dinner for two" that included a bottle of wine, salad, the main meat serving, potatoes and vegetables and dessert. It was wonderful and we ate until we were stuffed.... More

As normall I follow the suggestions from the waiter (yes I know the risk, but still). I got a perfectly grilled entrecot along with salad, potato and bread. Just what I needed. Highly recommended!

Absolutely wonderful food! The menu of salad, grilled meat and homemade tapanade with bread was fabulous! We added nachos which were divine, as was the homemade sangria. The flan was perfecto! Dana and Pepito were warm and friendly host/waiter and their English made up for our nonexistent Spanish. Small, out-of-the-way location near Casa Arabe and various parks, shopping districts. Intimate... More

My husband and I liked this restaurant so much that we had lunch there twice. It is unbelievable how much they offer for such a small price, 10Euros for starters, main dish, dessert and a drink and if you sit outside you pay 2 Euros more. The food was wonderful, salada, sardine, steak, fruits for dessert and the service was... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
