We keep telling people about our evening here. Our wine loving friends are impressed by what we saw on sale (serious European vintages here) and our food friends love our description of what we got by just keeping on saying 'Si' to whatever Antonio was suggesting. As a host he cannot be faulted. We had a great evening and we... More

We had a couple of glasses of Aglianico Azienda Maiellaro Vivido. Not sure about how much I was asked for it...good wine though.

We tried this place on the basis of appearance and location. After a long day on the tourist trail the owner told us to "relax", great advice. We let him choose our wine. At 5 Euro a glass it was expensive compared to other local bars, but was excellent. We are Aussies and buy our wine based on taste at... More

It was getting late for lunch, we were having trouble finding the duomo and weren't too impressed with the tourist looking restaurants we passed on the way. There didn't seem to be any restaurants around the duomo when we found it and then we stumbled on this wonderful place up a little side street nearby. It was full of atmosphere... More

The nondescript entrance off a side street just up and across from the Duomo in Naples belies what awaits inside. The wine bar at the front is comfortably located amongst the shelves of wines on offer. Taste by the glass and engage with the owner, who himself is very engaging but with limited English. Or, rather, continue on to the... More

We had the most unexpected and surprising evenings at L'Enoteca del Grottino. Hospitality was superb, wines were breathtaking and food was classically simple and stunning. Thank you. Would definitely recommend.

Last night in Naples and ended our stay with a bang. Amazing culinary experience. This is not what it seems this is fine food made simple not pretentious but classy. A must in Naples. You have to meet the owner, Antonio, who made this a special evening for us.

The title refers to the waiter's question when we sat down to enjoy the wine we picked with ham and cheese. In fact, our best meals in the Napoli region did not include menus or our choices but what was presented to us. I had found the place while lost and when I brought back my boyfriend, we again found... More

We were starving and way overdue for lunch when we stumbled upon this gem. First its a nice wine shop, but in the back is set-up for lunch or dinner. Cool and inviting you sit amongst the wine bottles having a truly authentic Italian meal. Please try the Lachryma Christi, as it is very special to the region. Food is... More

The boss insisted we take his suggestion of hams and cheese (he seems to to do to everyone judging by the reviews), he suggested the wine too and got almost offended when we asked how much it was all going to be. He just pointed at the menu and brushed me off. Th portions were REALLY SMALL and the salad... More
