I am from Rome, I mean I was borne in Rome and live and work in Rome: so I am a kind of true Roman! As a local I always warn my foreign friends about tourist traps in my city when it comes to dining. Well, "Il desiderio preso per la coda" is the total opposite: a great place (2... More

My husband discovered this little gem by chance while walking around the center of Rome. I resisted going, since we were traveling with our 3 teenagers and thought it sounded a bit too "creative" for them. Big mistake!!!! We went for dinner on our last night in Rome, and my only regret is that we didn't try it earlier on... More

...to go back when next time in Rome. It's the contrary to some of the tourist traps you can be cought in the Italian capital city. Hidden in a small street and surrounded by pieces of art we had a delicous dinner in a "Roman setting", all locals who like good food at a fair price.

Went here on a recommendation from a local and was not disappointed. Great little family owned restaurant, located very close to Piazza Navona but on a quiet side street. I The meal and the service were excellent, incomparable to the touristy restaurant I went to for pasta earlier in the day. Highly recommended.

We loved this restaurant - the food was exquisite (we loved the cheese/pear dish, the carpaccio, and the eggplant dishes)!! The staff are lovely and the atmosphere on the patio is relaxed and romantic. We had dinner here for both of our 2 nights in Rome and hope to be back!

Down a narrow street, this is more suited to Greenwich Village or San Francisco than Italy. Pleasant modern country style, think Laura Ashley. Salads and healthy foods. Pleasant service, few little tables outside. Good salad with salmon. Salmone in crosto di pane al profumo served with a side order of boiled potatoes. Eur 11

Nice and tasty. Lots of vegetarian choices. Not pricy. Most dishes 9-15 euro. Deserts 6-7 euro. I found it nice with friendly staff recommended.

We went to il desiderio for dinner, and the food was great. We had the baccala which was really nice. The desserts were delicious as well. My only note is on the service which was confused and took a long time, but that is probably only because we arrived quite late and there was only a lady (which we imagined... More
