Very nice trattoria, super friendly staff, nice ambience great local food, primarily fish-based. We had cheviche, ok but not incredible, and good S Pietro and Branzino. Fish is prepared in so many different ways you should try them all. Reasonable pricing.

I always go to La Gensola when I am in Rome. The place is really authentic and the food is amazing. Go for fish if you go there and also have a nice plate of pasta! Love the place and love the staff

Osteria la Gensola is a delight, located just off the main street of Lungaretta that runs through charming and lively Trastavere! While the restaurant features two comfortable and inviting dining spaces, I'd request the more interesting 'front' room on your visit :) The menu offers...More

La Gensola was recommended by a food-loving friend whose opinion we trust, and he was quite right. It's very good indeed. It's about twenty minutes walk from Santa Maria in Trastevere tucked around a corner of the Piazza. We both had pasta to start with...More

We had one dinner at La Gensola; and it was better/more advanced than the standard Italian restaurants, with a more fish oriented menu. Starters were tuna carpaccio and ceviche (don’t remember the fish), and that tasted good (a bit too greasy); but the main courses...More

Trastevere has become very popular with visitors, so its easy to get drawn into regular pizza restaurants. But there are a few gems and La Gensola is one of them. A wonderful fish restaurant in a wood beamed setting. As with all great places to...More

My girlfriend and I were on our first trip to Rome, and were lucky to walk in without booking. We were very lucky, it was very busy and no other walk ins could be accommodated that night. Just a short walk from our hotel away...More

Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded
postcard, a little worn around the edges but still
charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering
streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and
overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible
mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of
entertainment - a rotating set of street performers
entertains almost every night, and unforgettable

Warm atmosphere in the heart of Trastevere with fantastic, well-presented food. Great place for authentic Italian dishes as it is mainly frequented by locals.
