Loved this restaurant, great service and choice of menu. 3 courses bottle of reasonable wine and coffee 100 euro. Couldn't fault the service given by Pompilio. A cut above anything else.

I took my family there for a dinner and we all loved. The sea bass, the chicken with roasted potato, the vitela with gorgonzola cheese were amazing. It melted in our mouths. My young daughter had only a eggplant and cheese salada and was really happy with the taste. Deserts were also tasteful: macedonia de fruta (fruit salad) and all... More

This is a beautiful, old-fashioned, comfortable restaurant serving excellent food and good wine. It has been owned by the same family since 1952 and is very well run. Our waiters were friendly and efficient. The quality of the food was very good and the menu was interesting. They have an excellent, reasonably priced wine list. The restaurant is in the... More

We stopped here for lunch when looking at nearby options from our hotel. Great service for a great price. They made you feel like VIPs! We had the house wine (there is not a bad wine in Italy) and a salad to start. At this point in our trip, I was craving something green and healthy (not just all carbs!),... More

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner! We highly recommend this restaurant. Wonderful good and great service, We started with the prosciutto and mozzarella and artichoke giudia. We followed that with Tonnarelli and clams and gnocchi and clams. We ended the meal with the Sea Bass Giglio, All the food was excellent. My wife is very picky about mozzarella... More

Visited prior to going to the opera house. The service is very professional & the food well presented & of good quality. Litre of house wine for 6 Euro. The staff ensured we had speedy service so we were on time for the show. We would have returned on the Sunday night but they were closed.

We tried for other TA Restaurants and gambled on this. It was amazing, great choice and wine (good) by the half bottle. We really didn't want to leave. We would go back tomorrow (but they are shut on Sunday). Valentino our waiter was so attentive.

This is a very good restaurant. The ambiance is in keeping with the character of Rome. Service was excellent. We were able to get a jug of wine for €6 which we did not find available in other restaurants. Food was of very good quality. Deserts could be chosen from a trolley. The best meal we had during the holiday... More

I have been to this place 3 times in the past and I always enjoyed the food, wine and service. In June 2016, my party and I went to Ristorante del Giglio two times and each meal was fabulous. We had various pasta dishes the first night and the second we all had the carbonara. The complimentary bottle of Prosecco... More

This restaurant is very near Hotel Quirinale where I first stayed in1966. The hotel is perhaps not as grand but this restaurant is fantastic! We went there for dinner on December 29th and I love a Vitello Tonato, which is on the menu but is a cold plate. The weather was very cold so I was told it was not... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
