We should have known better when the taxi driver said "do you really want to go here?". As with other fans of the NR I'm sometimes drawn to re-live the TV experience when I travel. Usually, I'm disappointed and this place lived up to the...More

As mentioned by other reviewers, we saw this on Anthony Bourdain. We were staying near the Pantheon, so it was a long taxi ride and a bit difficult to find, even for the taxi driver, but well worth it. We were lucky to be there...More

We trekked here from the colosseum and it was well worth it. Our local hotel tried to steer us away from the place due to the lower reviews on trip advisor but we're so happy we didn't listen and went anyways. The Cacio y Pepe...More

My husband and I discovered this restaurant via Anthony Bourdain. We took an Uber from our hotel and with the driver's help, eventually found it. When we arrived it was nearly deserted, save for the chef, Habibi. There was a very important soccer game going...More

Highly recommended and hands down the best dinner we had on our trip. A very roman restaurant mostly visited by the locals. Really nice and helpful people there even if do not really speak italian. Try the amazing cabonara!

Cacio y Pepe and Carbonara both great - crostini with zucchini flowers worth every penny. Hard to find the entrance bit just follow the sign. Everyone was very nice and the chef came out to talk.

On our last day we ended the night here at Il Timoniere. 7 dishes and 2 bottles of wine later we rolled out stuffed and in heaven. This place was featured on Anthony Bourdain's show but is still mostly only visited by locals because it...More

Every time I'm in Rome, I have to eat at least one meal at Il Timoniere. Usually though, I go for dinner 2-3 times, and always wish I'd gone a few more times while there. One thing I must say, it's not the easiest place...More

A variety of local dishes all cooked perfectly. Very grateful that our Italian cousins brought us here - delicious! Genuine Roman cooking with attentive service. Plus, a wonderful story behind this restaurant.

It was an awesome dinner beginning to end. The BEST Tiramisu EVER. Highly recommend it, do not miss it. The location was difficult to find, even for a local taxi, but it was SOOOOO worth it.

I'd be really surprised if you need a reservation here. It's a local's place, and I've been there probably 10 times in the past 3 years and it's never been crowded. Granted, I was usually there between 7:30pm and 9pm, on... More
