This is a good choice to eat in central Rome (near Termini). I liked it because it's unexceptional, predictable, decent, authentic and civilised. And the food's good! Somewhere to go for a quiet chat and a good lunch. Simple pastas all executed well. Decent table wine. Reasonable prices. The service is friendly but unassuming. What's not to like?!

Stumbled into this Trattoria restaurant while on the look out for good leather shoes from Piazza de Spagna. They were quite full despite it being 3 in the afternoon and since the waiter was Filipino, he attended to us quickly, helping us understand what was on the menu, and making sure my Mom and I felt welcome. This is why... More

The food was bland and there was a hair in my pasta and the waiter asked if I was going to finish it. Very disappointing.

How anyone can describe the food in this restaurant as anything else confuses me. Please save yourself an expensive rip off and avoid, there are plenty of excellent places nearby. Under cooked, small portions, and not as described, the smoked salmon pasta had no salmon, the steak was bony gristle with a disgusting sauce!! The owner knew we were unhappy... More

Went there for dinner on our second night, we order the steak, salmon spaghetti, scampi and the tortellini. The steak are just a flat piece of meat on cream sauce, then the salmon spaghetti which no salmon at all, just bunch of way under cooked spaghetti with cream sauce, the scampi was alright just 4 pieces of medium prawns and the... We had spaghetti with pesto to die for. We felt adventurous and tried trips Roman style. Very good! Too bad we discovered this place on our last stay in Rome.

Ate here during a recent short break in Rome ( Sept '16.) and this restaurant was just round the corner from our hotel. We got a table outside with little trouble at 9pm on a rather showery weekday evening. The service was great and a very extensive menu to choose from. The food was good without being spectacular and very... More

When going to another country you tend to want to try the "local" food but still have an idea of what your eating so you order things you know. The first night we ate here the food was amazing! No chemicals, the tomatoes and herbs seemed as if they were fresh from a garden (probably were) and the service was... More

I noticed mix reviews on this restaurant but decided to visit with my wife and son as it was near our hotel. I have to say I only found positives. Friendly greeting, good service, excellent food and not too pricey at all. I really enjoyed the visit, atmosphere and the staff attitude. So I have to admit I really am... More

Nice little polite street Trattoria with very good basic food, also spaces indoors. Prompt service, clean and welcoming, menus also in English. The Traveller menu was a great deal; choice of two items in each of 3 courses, and a half bottle of house white, two people for €35 can’t say fairer than that for central location not far from... Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
