I stopped here after getting into Rome because of a recommendation from a friend. It's right around the corner from the termini station and serves authentic, homemade pasta dishes. My boyfriend and I tried the Cacio e Pepe and the pasta all gricia. Delicious! Definitely a great spot to stop in Rome.

It has been a long time since I was first here and it hasn't changed. Mamma is still in the kitchen and the food is just as good. In fact so good I went twice! Don't come here if you're in a rush, just sit back and enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the wine. It is a bit like... More

We just returned from dinner tonight. The food was home cooked and so tasty. The house wine was 6 euro a litre .The teramasu was to die for and plenty of local families had dinner while we were there. We were not rushed .This is definitely a gem .

The service in this place was the worse I have ever encountered, there was maybe half a dozen customers in and we waited 20 minutes before we even got a menu. The staff were rude and clearly had no time for those that were not locals. The food was ok but nothing special, whole evening ruined by visiting this place... More

We ended up here on our first night of the holiday and had the most perfect carbonara that could not be matched for the entire trip so we finished our trip here before we went to the airport. The atmosphere is so italian and the service to begin with was a bit rudish but they found us a table in... More

An Italian friend had recommended Trattoria dell'Omo years ago, and is a sign of the traditional style of the place that it was as good as he said it was. The quality of the veal was fantastic - my wife had scallopini, my daughter had osso bucco, both marvellous. I had saltimbocca, which was the best I have ever had.... More

Food is great here. Revisited after first trying this place a few years ago. Always full of locals rather than tourists which I always see as a good sign. Good value for money.

You will be scared when you walk in. Amazing food for 25 euros a head. Service is efficient and only friendly once you show appreciation. The grand-mother - looks like yoda, cooks like a god - sometimes checks on the regulars and takes any compliments on the food as granted. Osso-bucco, the best in my life. Tiramisu and pannacotta, world... More

Where to start it was my wife's birthday and our first night in Rome and as fate would have it we found the most wonderful restaurant to celebrate. The food was sensational the atmosphere both romantic and friendly but what made it a perfect night was the service by all the staff especially Elena. My wife Jennifer was so happy... More

It's so near to Termini station and it could be a place for lunch. What you get is home-made style typical local dishes. Most of them are already prepared, you can see them clearly, which makes me feel like eating fast-food. The food is OK, average level, but much better than lots of restaurant around. For me, one pasta with... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
