Myself and my girlfriend ate here on one evening during our week's stay in Rome and our experience meant that we only ate there the once. Although the restaurant was fairly empty, the only other clients being a group of German tourists, we were seated at a couple of the tables at the top of the stairs and left feeling... More

the food is nothing to write about, the service is slow but i tis a good spot to si ton the corner opposite Santa Maria maggiore the biggest Church in Rome and watch all the tourists. There is an upstairs but we were the only guests and although quite attractive no ambience and food second rate.

I loved this place. The coffee was wonderful. It has a wide range of desserts and the ice cream is l'oro bianco, with many different flavours. It's a pleasant atmosphere inside and out and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

We stopped by for coffee the first morning but went somewhere else in the end and boy am i glad we did. We went back and decided to have a coffee banco (ie standing up). They tried to charge us literally double from the other cafe's in the area. Not entirely sure why. We went to a charming place on... More

Only stopped for gelato on our way past. The gelato was old and icy with ice crystals in it. The staff who served was friendly and the helping was generous, hence 2 stars but that is all I can say that was good. Would not go back for gelato.

We decided to have dinner here tonight, that was a big mistake! After nearly falling over at the prices for drinks we thought it must be great so we stayed. My "fresh" strawberry juice was actually from a bottle that was not even half a glass full! The food came out cold, the carbonara was bland with maybe 4 pieces... More

This cafe/restaurant was on the corner of our street where we were staying. On our walk home most evenings we would stop in for a gelato or a cake take away. The prices were reasonable and the service was friendly. On our last morning we decided that we would stop in for breakfast – a simple cafe latte and croissant.... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
