We booked a reservation with this restaurant because it was recommended to us. We got a confirmation e-mail and were all set. We walked 1.5 miles to get there and it was CLOSED!! They confirmed our reservation but were actually closed. I emailed them back and they gaily said they were closed with no apology. Rude and unacceptable!! Avoid this... More

This French restaurant is situated behind the Pantheon and is run by nuns. A friendly greeting and then led upstairs to a dining room with the typical painted ceiling of Rome. Service by the " sisters " was a joy, the menu surprisingly extensive and the food excellent. At the end of the meal , us diners joined in with... More

My parents loved to come to this restaurant when they visited Rome. So, we decided to make a reservation before we left the United States for New Year’s Eve for 8:00 PM. Let me explain that this restaurant is run by nuns of the order of Lavoratrici Missionairie dell’ Immacolata. The restaurant opened in Rome in 1969. They dress in... More

Managed by nuns, this French restaurant has two rooms, a top priced a la carte room and another one where a fixed menu is served. At lunch service stops when nuns and clients stand up and sing Ave Maria in French. Obviously singing is not compulsory. Nuns make this a very unique experience

Friends recommended this place. I knew it as well from my youth in Toulon. They have a nice restaurant there. You pass the door and the sisters welcome you as guest and friends. It is quiet and so relaxing. It really feels like a safe haven to rest body and soul. The food is tasty and good. Far from being... More

One of those little places i have been hearing about for years and never quite made it to until recently. The food was plain and uninspired, though fresh. The mission and the service were spectacular. If it were just for the food and setting, it would be average, but the staff made it a little more.

Went to l'eau vive on the recommendation of a friend. All the times in Rome and never knew this gem existed. Run by a group of nuns who cook, wait tables and serve. What to expect? With first trepidations! Next time to Rome I'll be going twice. Food was superb, onion soup compares to Paris, steak au poivre the best...... More

The lovely sisters who run l'Eau Vive will make you feel at home as soon as you enter. It was a surprising welcome to hear French after a week of my bad Italian. The food was lovely, the menu extensive and the Ave Maria made me cry. Perfect meal.

This gem of a restaurant is near the Pantheon, hidden just off the Piazza San Eustachio, in an old townhouse with traditional and cozy decor. It is run by a French Catholic organization that provides a religious community, home, and employment for women from poor countries that might otherwise be obliged to fend for themselves on mean streets. It often... More

The sisters are so welcoming and nice. Several of them talked with us throughout the evening. Really wonderful experience. The food is great too. Mainly a French menu with some Italian items. Would highly recommend it.
