Its location just adjacent the church of St. Peter in Chains could have meant tourist trap, but this place is legit. Lots of locals and regulars enjoying friendly service and delicious food. Highly recommended!

We came to this restaurant with only 30 min for lunch before a tour of the Colosseum. The waiter made excellent recommendations and we had a great meal very quickly! The omelette was lovely!

We were winding our way back from the Colosseum and came across this out of the way restaurant. We were welcomed into the fold of mostly locals and the menu was filled with special dishes not available in the usual Rome restaurant. There were things...More

We'd made a special effort to visit Hostaria da Nerone based on reviews and a recommendation. Although we were greeted immediately and relatively well looked after, our food left a lot to be desired. We ordered three anitpasto dishes, some wine and other drinks. The...More

We went to this lovely little restaurant, that is surprisingly close to the colosseum, because some friends from home recommended it. The food was delicious, it was relaxed because it does not seem to be well known to tourists. The staff was more attentive than...More

We have been eating here since 1983 and have never been disappointed. Great food with many Roman specialties. The owner Eugenia is always there to welcome you. Service very attentive and the prices are fair. From an outside table you look directly at the Colosseum....More

We were recommended to try Hostaria da Nerone by our AirBNB host. It is located a stone's throw from the Colosseum, and has much better food than the closer tourist eating options. A good variety of Italian home made cooking options are on offer and...More

A little off the beaten path near Barberini station, this little kitchen serves basic Roman staples. Great cacio e pepe and very friendly wait staff.

This restaurant is a family run business. Nonno sits at one table, with his beloved dogs, while over-seeing the comings and goings. The restaurant is filled with locals, which is the best sign for home-style cooking and genuine Roman cuisine. We had a delicious lunch...More

it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet

As Bighorndon says, its unlikely. They are not connected electronically to the world (or at least they don't respond). We wrote them a regular snail mail letter to secure our booking for 17 people and they answered it.
