Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Food is simple, flavorful and over all excellent. It is in the Jewish Ghetto. Sit and enjoy the lovely setting; the culture, and the beautiful cuisine. Great attentive service. The tripe is exceptional. Their pasta is so tender. Sauces are a blend of some wonderful simple flavors. You won't be disappointed. Prices are very good also. Put... More

Good traditional Roman cuisine in the 19-20th Century Roman Jewish standard. Go for carciofi alla giudìa, filetti di baccalà fritti (far, far away from the standard fried haddock you might have tasted in your life) and ask for a stroll in the Roman traditions with vignarola. Be laxed on wine since the markups are reasonable. Ask to dine or have... More

I'm reading these reviews and wondering if I caught this restaurant on an off night. My boyfriend and I who are major foodies and well traveled, had the worst meal and service of our entire stay in Rome at Piperno. Not to mention the prices, which are exhorbitant!!. I live in NYC where one can experience good food and i'm... More

We knew about Piperno from many years so when we arrived in Rome we went right away for dinner. The restaurant is located in the Jewish area of Rome. There are also other restaurant in the same area but our friends in Israel had been to Piperno and suggested that we do the same. Excellent artichokes alla Giudea, nice waiters... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by an Italian friend. Made a reservation for a Sunday lunch. Restaurant was very busy, and we didn't notice any tourists at all!!! For Rome, that is almost an exception, and not a bad thing at all! The restaurant is in the former getto, and serves food which is Jewish/Roman. Among the specialities you... More

This is a great place to have the traditional Roman specialties. Their most famous dish, fried artichokes, were as touted, perfectly prepared and quite special. I followed this up with a perfectly prepared seafood risotto, wonderfully balanced and seasoned. They do a unique dessert "Grandpa's Balls" which consists of fried dough stuffed with ricotta and chocolate. Sounds odd but is... More

Rome has the highest number and the most ancient of jewish community in Italy. They are the real descendents of ancient romans and Piperno is the first restaurant cooking a perfect traditional food of this ancient community. In no other place but Rome you can eat this traditional food. You must taste " I carciofi alla giudia" and "frittura mista",... More

We walked in on a Thursday evening without reservations. Even though the restaurant seemed fully booked, they made space for us with only a few minutes' wait. We had the artichoke starter, pasta first courses, and the oxtail stew and steak as our final courses. We definitely ordered too much with the meat as the final course, but everything was... More
