We asked our friends in Roma for a real Roman traditional restaurant after having been disappointed by the restaurant we ate at last night (Rossi Tiziano) near Termini Train Station, and they told us about Augustarello a Testaccio. We came and ordered different dishes from...More

Finally, a true Roman meal, amazing offal and pasta. We took a 10 stop bus ride (from Barberini Piazza)to the local meat district but it’s worth it! Good value and perfect taste! We found everything on our “When-in-Rome-eat what-the-Romans-eat” list to order: veal intestines (with...More

Plain, homely ambience, friendly efficient staff. Pasta was excellent. We all relished the carbonara. One of us had the oxtail, the other two had the lamb with roast potatoes. One of these was good but mine was a little dry and over cooked. Desserts good....More

Been to many top rated osteria's but this was the best one. Service was amazing. Food was A+. Red wine was slightly chilled. So spot on. Highly recommended!

Do not be put off by the strange and unlovely surroundings. This place is absolutely worth the visit. Charming service, delicious local food.

Stopped by for lunch and I definitely chose the right place! Service was impeccable and waitstaff was attentive, and the oxtail was amazing! I loved the atmosphere, and pricing was reasonable. Seems like more people came for dinner.

When in Rome, do look for something beyond the amatriciana and the carbonara (and Pizza is from Naples...). In the Testaccio neighborhood there are some gems that still reflect the connection with the offal or "quinto quarto" in that area where the slaughterhouses were set....More

Fantastic little restaurant with amazing food. We had the sweatbreads, the coratella (lamb's entrails) with artichoke and the oxtail. All the dishes were amazing. Didn't see any tourists and the staff were extremely friendly. House wine at 10e for 1litre was very good. One of...More

Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio,
an ancient Roman port and former working class

every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche
(nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants
give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the
daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club
hit, the area is full of locally owned small
