We enjoyed an excellent meal here and were well looked after. Great selection of local dishes and a fine wine list.

Tucked away near the city centre this restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, simply and tastefully furnished and beautifully presented. Busy but not noisy.Very friendly owners gave excellent service We very much enjoyed a superb chicken dish and a wonderful meatball dish; sadly no room for puddings. Local wine was superb. Excellent value for money...a very pleasant place to eat.

Make reservations since it's a small place but the food is excellent and the service is top notch. Prices are very reasonable.

Luckily booked for 7.30 on a Friday night, thank goodness as a couple who went in just before us were turned away as fully booked and that happened throughout the night, also the phone was constantly ringing for bookings. We shared an anti-pasta the mixed meats and cheese - asked if we could share a primi pasta and no problem,... More

The proprietors really seemed to be interested in making their clients happy and comfortable, and even though my Italian is rather flawed, I think they appreciated the attempt. A few comments: this is Bologna so there are not many vegetarian or chicken offerings on most menus, including here. The risotto with truffles was fantastic, and although it was on the... More

We were staying in the hotel almost opposite to Al Sangiovese and had no previous knowledge of the restaurant. The family owners who are 'front of house' were very welcoming and helpful (including with translations into English!). The menu is not too large with plenty of choices of fayre. The prices are very reasonable (about mid range) and the quality... More

Very friendly staff, great food. They allowed us to share each course which was good because the whole four courses is a lot! Fantastic risotto with truffles and steak - and one of the best Italian wines I've every had.

I am not very lucky with recommendations but this restaurant really something. Before travelling to Bologna I was reading one of the travel guides where the author mentioned that "If you wanna buy the best pasta go...". As I wanted to have my place secured I wrote an email and within an hour I received very polite reply saying that... More

This smallish restaurant seems to be very popular with tourists. We did not book and walked up a bit early...so glad we did. It was full within 10 minuets and the during our short time there, an hour or so, the proprietor had to turn away at least as many enquiries for a table as there are tables in the... More

We have eaten here 2 nights running and going back for our third and final night in Bologna. When in Rome, as they say....well the fact that it was packed with local Bolognese people last night...we only just got a table (and booked for tonight) tells you all you need to know. Food is very typical of this area (which... More
