Convenience food for 10€

We were in Manarola on the Christmas day, so only a few places were open. We had to choose this little fast-food-ish bar, as the other place was full. The place was covered in little signs, cute in their own way, but it was hard...to quickly choose something. We ended up ordering a piece of a traditional vegetable pie and vegetarian ricotta cannelloni meal. After ordering, we started to look the signs a bit closer, and noticed that some signs for the vegetarian meals were cut from the Lidl convenience food packages. We started joking about soon hearing microwave sounds, but it actually became reality. After waiting for some 15 minutes we got first the pie, and then the cannellonis - in a plastic container. So, we paid 10 euros for a few euros microwave meal. The "traditional" pie was greasy but good. Nevertheless, the service was friendly and anyway we got food. Will not go here a second time, though.More

Great little mom and pop type place with great take away food

This is a take away only place, it does have a couple of benches out front for waiting that you can eat at as well, but the food is worth not having eat in options. The menu is set up as a picture board with...price, so language is not an issue, and there is definitely service with a smile.More

Fantastico Gluten Free

We found this little gem this week in Manarolo. If you are looking for gluten free go no further...literally you aren't going to find homemade gluten free pasta or pizza anywhere else in 5Terre. We visited 4 of the 5 and couldn't find many if...any gluten free options other than pizza in Riomaggiore which had great sauce but a Schar's crust. Back to Il Discovolo - it is the best and the owner is super friendly. We ordered several dinners the night before we were leaving to bring with us to Lake Como. Thank you Il Discovolo, we love your food.More

Certainly not fast food with a smile

Admittedly it was busy and very hot but this place was so, so slow for a takeaway! Clearly, the owner was very overwhelmed and was getting snappy with people when asked how long it would take to warm up a slice of pizza.....1/2hr?? The food...was ok nothing special but perhaps on not such a busy day, it would be better.More

My son very sick

We wait 30 min for Frozen food (lasagna, gnocchi) and my son was sick few hours later (food poisoning). Avoid this place !!!

Beautiful takeaway local food (also vegan options)

We bought our takeaway dinner here both nights of our stay to enjoy eating on our balcony enjoying the amazing views. The food was absolutely delightful, freshly prepared and packed in foil covered takeaway containers to keep it hot on the walk back to the...apartment. The owner was very helpful with making our meal selections, encouraging us to pick the local delicacies. We were also able to buy cold beers and wines. We didn’t try anything from the vegan menu (apart from the chickpea bread which was delicious) but there were vegan and vegetarian options available Would definitely recommend!More

Gluten Free Gem

What a wonderful surprise. I came across this little gem while searching for a gluten free lunch in Manerola. There are several options here for a good gf meal, including dessert pastries. I chose the roasted veggie pizza. The thin crust was perfection - better...than I’ve ever had anywhere! No burned parts! Lots of yummy veggies and cheese. Next time I might try adding the basil pesto. If you are gluten free or not (my hubby who is not gf enjoyed this pizza, too) give this place a try. You will not be disappointed.More

Avoid the vegan lasagna

We were so excited to find a place that had vegan lasagna - both a pesto version and a tomato version but unfortunately the food tasted like frozen food made using dried pasta. We couldn’t finish it. With such amazing vegan options in Cinque Terre...- I would suggest you avoid the vegan lasagna here. It was great they had a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. He also had at least one gluten free option.More

Quick and easy food that's delicious

Went here for a quick lunch whilst heading down to the water; we ordered two pastas and they were delicious. There are seats around the front of the place and we sat there and ate our food. It's not a fine dining place but a...great "take away" place.More
