We were becoming disappointed in the restaurants in Vernazza when we decided to walk up the hill to this little gem. We are so glad we did! The staff actually seemed like they were happy that you were there! We were greeted with a smile...and had a wonderful breakfast with a BIG cup of coffee. The croissants were to die for. We are sad we didn’t find it earlier in our stay.More

... and we tried most of them. Hands down, the best breakfast in Vernazza. The staff is great, the food is delicious, and they serve the best cappucini in Vernazza, maybe the best this side of Trieste. Ask for the crema brioche - made to...order and unbelievably good. I'm sorry we found them near the end of our visit and won't enjoy their lunch and dinner offerings. Very highly recommended!More

The best croissant I’ve ever had and they are made in house! Delicious and plentiful breakfast and they are open at 6 am. Very quick service. We would definitely come again!

We were nearly put off by the silly name and the fact that this restaurant is next to a car park/bus stop but we went for it as it’s off the main drag. Glad we did. The food was really excellent. Outstanding bruschetta and amazing...pasta with truffle cream & walnuts. Great service from Alba, too. A memorable lunch.More

Great lunch, tight on space, worth it. Convenient laundry "washline" next door. It was raining so we all had to cram in. We paid cash for lunch. Had the pesto gnocchi and wine.

We stopped here for breakfast at the start of the fabulous walk from Vernazza to Monterosso. The welcome was friendly and warm. I ate an apple pastry which was warm, delicious and perfectly soft and satisfying. My partner said that the homemade focaccia was wonderful....After coffee and breakfast we set off ready for the beautiful day ahead.More

Super friendly staff. Food was exquisite, like really, real traditional italian food at a reasonable price and very very good. Went for lunch and went back the next day to have breakfast and it was just as good. I recommend the pasta and the bruschetta...no doubt. You should also try the orange juice for breakfast. Their home made focaccia is very very good and the desserts too. Completely recommend visiting, but keep in mind it’s a small restaurant, so you either book or go early to secure your place, depending on the time of the year.More

This is the best place in Vernazza for breakfast and lunch. They are not open for dinner. The coffee and cappuccino are wonderful. We had the best foccacia with tomato and pesto for breakfast and the pistachio and ricotto filled pastries were amazing. The trofie...al pesto and bruschetta was the best we had in Cinque Terre. The service is also too notch.More

When you arrive in Vernazza, head away from the flow of people rushing to the center, and up to Il Pirata for excellent coffee and cannoli and a host of other choices. What makes Il Pirata memorable is not just the food, but the friendly,...entertaining, and welcoming hosts. We stopped here on out first trip to Vernazza over 15 years ago, and we returned today with our daughters. It was as wonderful an experience today as it was before, and that is not something that happens every day!More

Il Pirata delle Cinque Terre efficiently catered to us before our departure to the airport. The culinary experience at this establishment is nothing short of extraordinary, with dishes prepared authentically and executed to perfection. Our selection included pasta adorned with walnut sauce and truffle cream,...alongside delectable gnocchi featuring Ligurian pesto. To conclude our meal on a sweet note, we indulged in an irresistible fresh cannoli that served as the perfect finale to a superb dining experience, and Cinque Terre visit. For those seeking an exceptional culinary adventure, I enthusiastically recommend making a stop at Il Pirata delle Cinque Terre. The combination of authentic flavors, meticulous preparation, and a delightful atmosphere makes it a memorable diningMore

OK, so this may not have a view of the sea, but frankly we didn't need that, we wanted good food and friendly service. All you have to do is walk a couple of minutes up the hill from the centre of Vernazza in the...opposite direction from the station to the route all the tourists take and you stumble across a residential street with a couple of restaurants. In September, it was still very hot, and we were delighted to find a seat outside with a bit of shade, watching the people walk by, and chatting to our fellow French and American diners on the tables next to us, the atmosphere was buzzing and while we deliberately turned up early just before mid-day to get a table without a reservation, it was very quickly packed out with guests, much like the rest of Vernazza, and it's easy to see why... We had a linguini frutti di mare and a salmone alla griglia and both were cooked to perfection and very generous portion sizes. We shared a bottle of the local Lunae Vermentino Bianco which was a delight, and a perfect accompaniment to seafood dishes. We followed this up by sharing their tiramisu which was a yummy end to a lovely, relaxed meal with very good service. All in was 70 Euros for 2 people including the wine and service which we thought was incredible value for great food and a fabulous all round experience in a very popular tourist destination. Overall, very highly recommended :-)More

My coworker told me about this spot. She said that it was a MUST and I MUST agree! It was the first place we saw as we walked into town with our luggage in tow. We were lured in by the Sicilian cannoli and still...dream about it. Service was great and everyone was truly happy to welcome us. This was the beginning of our 2 week trip, but it will never be forgotten! This Washington, DC group will return!!More
