Featuring in Hemingway's 'A Farewell to Arms', with a Hemingway Suite and Bar, and in many ways little changed in style from its 'Belle Époque' days, this is a distinguished grande dame, with elegant decor and a dramatically dominant position on Stresa's Lake Maggiore waterfront. All of that is delightful in its way, as was our floor, the 'prima galleria',... More

We stayed at this hotel so it only seemed right that we eat there one night. The hotel itself is elegant and of a very high standard with a sumptuous breakfast buffet. However we were extremely disappointed by dinner. Our meal was very expensive for what it was. My husband had a ravioli dish that was quite poor. When he... More

We are just about to check out of this grand hotel after an enjoyable 4 night stay. The hotel is superb in every way from the courteous attentive staff, magnificent grounds and gardens and of course the palatial building itself. In all it is one of the best hotels we have stayed in and have no hesitation in recommending it... More

We came hear for the breakfast buffet (we were staying at an AirBnB) and loved the beauty of the building and friendly service. The food was good but at 33 Euro per person this was more than what we had paid at restaurants for rather amazing dinners. Still, we had a nice time just felt like 20 Euro would have... More

We recently stayed here as part of an organised tour of Italy. All the hotels on our trip have been high quality 4 or 5 star so we have a fair comparison of old and new elegant old world and modern. This hotel as you draw up to it is set in a stunning location and is indeed a stunning... More

Believe it our not but this restaurant was the only place in our Milan and surroundings week long stay that the pace of the meal was slow and relaxed. Seems everywhere else restaurants are recognizing that if you pace the meals faster tables can be turned and more money made. Well this place is sticking to the Euro way of... More

Came here on our first night staying at this hotel. Booked a table on the terrace overlooking the lake (highly recommended). We hada lovely welcome from all the staff. Chose to have a shared starter (the bresaola), then I had the most wonderful lobster tagliolini, then a fish soup. Had local wines, which were tasty. The view was amazing throughout... More

Shortly after checking in at the hotel and being shown to our room, we were treated to a severe thunderstorm on our first night in Stresa and were therefore glad that we’d booked a table at the hotel’s own restaurant. How wrong could we be? The restaurant staff members were cold and unwelcoming bar for a couple of exceptions. I... More

The hotel is over the top in its beauty; the restaurant has very inventive menus and service is top notch. Call ahead at least one day to get outside dining as the experience is wonderful. The meals are very reasonably priced which was surprising considering the service, location and quality.

The aromatherapy massage was divine - one of the best I have ever had. Beautiful lavender oils were used in a full body massage.
