We ate here in late September, 2016. The atmosphere is very calm and inviting, and the waiter, Ozyed, is a charming and personable addition to the overall experience. Our food was spectacular! I had veal with white truffles and the experience was sublime. They did not skimp on the truffles either! My wife had pasta with white truffles and it... More

Aquila Nigra is a restaurant with 1 Michelin star, and our meal convinced us that the star was well earned. The restaurant is lovely, and all the dishes were excellent. The restaurant is located on a small side street in the center of Mantova. Our standout dish was a tartare of shrimp with sorbet and a bit of fennel. It... More

Average food, not worth the visit. Stayed in Mantova for a week. Tried 10 different restaurants. The worst experience was here

This restaurant is down and alley so it requires some searching to find. It is in a building that was built in the 1,500's and was originally a palace. We eat early by European standards so we were the only patrons there most of our meal. There were no less than 5 people working in the kitchen making everything from... More

The Michelin star is well deserved. There is a choice of two tasting menus, Mantuan, or seasonal. We opted for the latter and enjoyed foie gras with a sharp marmalade compote, and herb ravioli with pheasant stuffing where the sauce was a very heavily reduced game stock. Saffron risotto with veal was followed by sea bass with artichoke, then pork... More

It was easy for us to get a table on a Friday night, and the restaurant was not full yet good atmosphere. We had a wonderful French-speaking waiter who was witty and enthusiastic in his explanations of the dishes. His recommendations were spot on

To begin the restaurant clearly earned its Michelin star without question. The service was impeccable and the personnel was highly educated. To continue the food was typical of the region and was delightful. All ingredients were sourced from local farms and were extremely fresh. The atmosphere was that of and old Mantovanian castle. If you ever visit Mantova this restaurant... More

This 1* Michelin restaurant had been recommended, but rarely have we been so satisfied. The tiny unexpected entrance off a little alley in the Old Town added to its charm. It became a secret that only the lucky ones knew about. The staff was charming, but unpretentious. The wines well-priced and the food although too much was wonderful esp. the... More
