Unlike most restaurants, this one has a quiet area in the back, secluded from the crowded main street. The asparagus and egg appetizer is superb, while the traditional risotto alla milanese is a tasty choice for a primo (despite offering more interesting ingredients the other primi are not at the level of this dish). The traditional cotoletta alla milanese is... More

This is a very average restaurant and I am sure you can find better. We were recommended ElBrellin by our hotel (5 star establishment) and were disappointed from the first minute. The sitting area is basic but was swarming with flies. The welcome presecco is a lovey touch but isn't enough to make up for the very poorly executed "traditional... More

Hilton concierge made a lunch reservation for us which I definitely believe helped secure a window table in the lower level/bar overlooking the old canal. Outside seating was available, but would have been in the direct afternoon sun. Our waiter Joran(sp?) took the reservation and is pictured holding the menu. Very professional and personable young man with a varied background.... More

Staff were rude and inattentive, seemed to be an inconvenience. Ordered 2 cocktails cost €16 euros they were okay but nothing exciting and very slow service. Only Bonus was it was a sunny day and view of canal is nice.

Great atmosphere. Food was adequate. Nice wine list. Pleasant but quite touristy. Would likely not go back although recommended in guide books

The food was raw, no taste or seasoning but the tiramisu was banging. Drinks were good. Over priced meal

I read about this restaurant on a blog and it was also recommended by our hotel. This was our favorite meal in Milan! There is a cute outside patio which is where we sat. We were greeted with a complementary glass of prosecco, which is always a nice way to start a meal! The Milanese risotto and Milanese veal were... More

Fabulous location and nice feel inside the restaurant. Staff were excellent and could not be more friendly. The food was OK nothing exceptional but good enough. I had the veal Milanese which was all a bit dry to eat the Apple tart to follow was ok. Would not stop me going back perhaps I chose incorrectly.

I was here on Easter accompanied by the family, 5 persons. All was good, food wine and service. It was the 3rd time here in a 5 years: I can't understand some negative receptions and I want to underline that El Brellin and Officina 12 are probably the best in the heart of the touristic area Navigli. Tank you all... More

This was a recommendation from our concierge after asking for a traditional Italian Milanese restaurant. We weren't disappointed as this was an atmospheric restaurant with great service and fantastic food. Not a huge menu but also not huge prices. Would definitely recommend and as a fan of tiramisu I have to say it is the best!!

Staying in Navigli

Neighbourhood Profile
The Navigli is part of historic Milan. In the ancient days, the entire city was linked with canals, similar to Venice. Today, most of the canals are gone, but the Navigli remains a canal-based neighborhood. There are two major canals: Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande. The Naviglio Grande's bridges greet visitors at dusk with an amazing view. The Navigli district specializes in clubs, cafes, and vintage shops. Lifestyle reigns supreme here. You can start the walk from the Colonne di San Lorenzo, an antique colonnade in front of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. During the daytime, this place acts as a meeting point for artists and students reading books or chatting with friends; the nights turn it into a stepping-stone for club hoppers. Science lovers will also relish the opportunity to visit the Science and Technology National Museum Leonardo Da Vinci, showcasing inventions of the Italian genius.
